Home Learning - CUPE Work Stoppage

October 30, 2021

Dear ASD-S Families,

We thank you for your patience and understanding yesterday. The CUPE work stoppage will continue next week and, starting Monday, our schools will move to home learning/on-line learning until a resolution is found.

At K-8 your child’s teacher will contact you regarding a learning plan and grade-appropriate instruction. Teachers will contact students each day.  K-8 learning may include home learning kits, homework, or a mix of virtual and paper-based learning.  High school students will be expected to follow their regular class schedules online, where their attendance will be taken.

We recognize that home life looks very different from one family to the next and that the opportunity to connect with the school may vary among families.  We also recognize the impact disruptions to learning and assessment can have on students.  Our teachers will be providing meaningful work and supporting your child daily so that instruction, assessment, and learning can continue for all students as we approach the November report card.

Access to school buildings will be limited during this period and you will receive communication from your school with details of how students can pick up needed items in the coming days.

Thank you for your understanding and continued cooperation during this time.

Sincerely,

Zoë Watson,

Superintendent
