Weekly Update October 31 - November 4, 2016

Happy Halloween Grade 1 families!  I am sure that tomorrow will be a whirlwind, but we will try to keep the day as normal as possible.  Please remember no costumes tomorrow.

This week's words of the week are:  but, by, were, one, all.  The sounds we are reviewing are
single letter sounds and double letter sounds (ch, sh, th).  We are also reviewing short vowel sounds and introducing when two vowels go walking rule.   The poem of the week is Popcorn and will be uploaded to the class website.
In writing we will be finishing up an assessment piece where students have been focusing on writing 4 or more sentences in a writing piece, end punctuation, using upper case letters to begin sentences and for names, no invaders in their words, and making sure that their writing makes sense.
 
In math this week we will be finishing our unit on numbers and begin to do some pre-assessment to sort students into their new math groups for our shape and space outcomes. 
 
In You and Your World students continue to work on Habit #2 begin with the end in mind.
