6A2 (Marks) Homework (Math, Science, Homeroom)

1) Math - There will be a Math Quiz on numbers 1-100 tomorrow, September 30th. All students have flashcards with numbers 1-100 to practice at home. The videos below can also help students with proper pronunciation at home. Students have a 100 chart, practice quiz, connect 4 and BINGO game in their math binders for practice. 


We have completed our integers unit and have started our review. There will be a quiz on integers (les nombres entiers) next Monday, October 5th. Students started a review packet today in class and will continue to work through it this week.  In order to be successful on the integers quiz, students should be able to: 

-      Identify integers in a list of numbers

-      Write integers in symbolic and numeric form

-      Place integers on a number line

-      Place integers in increasing and decreasing order (ordre croissant/ordre décroissant)

-      Compare integers using symbols: <, >, =

-      Give examples of the applications of integers


All of this information can be found in your child's Math Binder.


2) ScienceThere will be a quiz on vertebrates next Wednesday, October 7th. In order to be successful on this quiz, students should be able to:

-       Recognize/list the common attributes of each vertebrate type (mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians)

-       Give examples of animals in each vertebrate class

-       Explain the difference between a vertebrate and an invertebrate and give an example of each

-       Classify animals as birds, fish, reptiles, mammals or amphibians and explain their classification

-       Compare and contrast different vertebrate groups (ex. what are the similarities and differences between birds and mammals)


Students have a vertebrates booklet in their Science Binder with all of the necessary informaiton and vocabulary to practice. We will also be completing review stations in class to practice.


2) 6A2 has Phys. Ed. tomorrow, students should come dressed in comfortable clothing and have outdoor shoes and a water bottle.

3) Tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day. Students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt to school in recognition of the impact of residential schools on our First Nations communities. More informaiton about Orange Shirt Day can be found here: https://www.orangeshirtday.org/

4) 6A2 will be doing the Terry Fox walk on Thursday afternoon (Friday afternoon rain date). Students are encouraged to wear comfortable footwear and to dress appropriately for the weather. GSMS will be raising money for the Terry Fox Foundation again this year. Students are encouraged to bring a toonie to school in support of the Terry Fox Foundation. Donations can also be made online in the school's name using the following link: https://secure.terryfox.ca/registrant/TeamFundraisingPage.aspx?TeamID=913727. The JT Clark Foundation is challenging schools in our area to fundraise $20 000 in support of the Terry Fox Foundation. If this goal is met, the Family Foundation will donate another $20 000, doubling our collective efforts.
