COULOMBE-LANGUAGE ARTS

We began work on our final project for our homelessness unit. Below is the outline students can use to plan the details of their project. Our homelessness unit has been a surface-level exposure to the issues surrounding homelessness and now students are expected to dig deeper. Students should consider topics and issues that stood out to them during the unit and work to learn more about these topics/issues. Their goal to to engage in "new" learning and then share that learning with their classmates in the form of their choosing (video, art work, 3D creation, speech, article, essay, poem, song, etc.). We have brainstormed many different topics and ideas in class. Students will have 3-4 weeks to work on this project, so their "driving question" should be one of substance and require research (either primary or secondary) to answer. Students should choose a topic and a sharing medium that suits their interests and strengths (for example if they are passionate about public speech, a recorded interview and subsequent presentation is suitable). I am encouraging students to include at least 1 primary source in their work, for example, carrying out an experiment or interview themselves or volunteering their time.
