Weekly Update and Reminders

​Hello families,

I hope that everyone enjoyed the first day of Fall!  Here is the weekly update and reminders for this coming week:
 
·       In literacy, we are continuing to work on our autobiographies.  This week I will be conferencing with students who have completed their graphic organizers and are ready to start a good copy.  Students will also create a video with their autobiography information.  They will have the option of creating an iMovie or using a green screen for this work.  You should continue to see a French book coming home each night for reading practice and a retell. 
·       In math, we continue to explore increasing and decreasing patterns and will start to explore solving equations with an unknown variable. (For example: 3 + * = 10 so  * =7).  We will be working with manipulatives to help students understand that both sides of an equation must be balanced.  Students who are comfortable with these types of equations will start working with larger numbers.
·       During our morning messages last week, we discussed the upcoming provincial elections and on Monday students will participate in the Student Vote.  This is an exciting opportunity for your child to be engaged in the democratic process at school!
 
Reminders:
·       Students are asked to bring in any fundraiser forms by Friday, September 28.
·       Picture day will take place on Monday, October 1.
