Weekly Update & Reminders

Hello families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  Here are the updates and reminders for this week:
·       Students should be reading aloud in French each night.  Please encourage your child to do a quick retell of their story after they have read their book.  You can also ask your child to explain their favourite part of their story.
·       In Literacy, students will finish sharing their autobiography videos with the class this week.  Also, we will be starting our integrated social studies and literacy unit about Explorers this week.  Students will be learning about present and past explorers and our writing focus for this unit will be writing a biography about a famous explorer.  During shared reading, we will be focused on non-fiction texts about a variety of explorers.  We will be working on finding the key information in these texts.
·       In Math, we are finishing up our pattern unit this week.  We will continue to look at patterns in addition tables (with one and two-digit numbers) and continue to practice solving and creating word problems using equations with an unknown variable.
·       Tuesday is the last day to send in photo orders.
·       Please return all library books to exchange on Tuesday.
·       Wednesday we will elect our Student Council President.  Best of luck to all the candidates!
·       Please join us this Saturday between 10-2 for the Nissan Test Drive fundraising event.  For each community member who test drives a vehicle, Nissan will donate $20 to our school!
