Early Morning Rise & Shine

Grade 5 Orientation Nasis Middle School

​On Monday, May 1 our grade 5 students will be going to Nasis Middle school for orientation. They will be travelling by bus to the school and returning before lunch. This a great opportunity for the students to become familiar with the school, staff, and other students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or the office.

Head Lice

​Please be advised that we have had a few cases of head lice reported to the school. Please check your child's hair on a regular basis.

Bus #257- Service Dog

There will be a Service Dog on bus #257 at the grades 3-5 dismissal. This dog is assisting a student from the middle school. This dog is a highly trained companion for the student and is able to assit him/her in many of the routine activities. We will be sending a letter home with students that travel on that bus and it can also be found in our document section of our website. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact district transportation Mark Manderson 444-5551 or Jennifer Fraser-Cole 453-3820.

April 28, 2017- NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS

Reminder that on Friday, April 28th there is no school for students. This is a district Professional Learning Day for teachers.

Roy's Weekly Roar- April 24-28, 2017

We continue to make many calls home for new clothes, please be sure your child has a change of clothes at school (socks, pants, etc) in case they become wet/muddy during recess time.

Congratulations to our Glee club for a wonderful performance at the York Care Centre last week. Also to our violin students for their spectacular performance at the music festival on Friday. Wishing our remainder of students that will be participating at Music Festival good luck!

Monday April 24- Band students at Music Festival

Tuesday April 25- Jump Rope for Heart envelopes due. We will announce our Jump Day when the weather warms up J

Wednesday April 26-

Thursday April 27- Poem in your Pocket day. Students will be sharing poems with each other on the playground.  Kindergarten students to attend Music Festival. Band practice for Flutes 10:00am and Full band at 11:50am. Leadership visit to Windsor Court.

Fri. April 28- NO School for students. Professional Learning day for teachers.

Grades 3-5 Chess Club every Mon. Tues. and Fri.   New players always welcome.

Rise and Shine- This will be the last week of rise and shine for the year. We thank all students for participating and Ms. Douglas for arriving early on those days to open the gym and supervise students.

Again we remind you that our playgrounds can be very wet and muddy. Please be sure your child has a change of clothes at school (socks, pants, etc) in case they become wet/muddy during recess time.

Thank you to all families that were able to stop in and support the Scholastic Book fair. The book fair helps us to raise funds for our library.

Easter Dinner- April 13

​Reminder that the only choice at the cafeteria tomorrow during lunch is the Easter dinner special. This includes- potatoes, baked ham, seasonl veggies, milk of choice, and an Easter dessert for $6.00.​

Roy's Weekly Roar April 10-14, 2017

Another reminder about the warmer weather and playground- as the weather warms up and the snow begins to melt, the playground has gotten very wet and muddy. We have made many calls home this past week for extra clothing. Please be sure your child has a change of clothes at school (socks, pants, etc) in case they become wet during recess time.

Scholastic Book Fair April 10-13- We will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair this week. Please feel free to stop by and visit during fair hours. Students will have the opportunity to visit during library time. Fair hours are as follows- Monday, April 10- 1:00-7:00pm, Tuesday, April 11- 8:00-3:30pm, Wednesday, April 12- 8:00-1:00pm, and Thursday, April 13th- 8:00-3:30pm. Hope to see you there!
Jump Rope for Heart- This week we had a presentation from the Heart and Stroke Foundation about heart health. Students brought home the ‘Jump Rope for Heart’ fundraising forms. Those that would like to participate are encouraged to collect funds for Heart and Stroke foundation. We put out a challenge for top fundraisers. The top three fundraising students will get to dump an ice bucket of water over Ms. Douglas, Mrs. Burnett, and Ms. Legere. The top fundraiser will get to spend a day hanging out in the office with Ms. Legere and Mrs. Burnett.
Monday April 10- No School for students. Teacher PL in the morning. Parent- teacher interviews starting at 1:30-7:00pm. Please make contact with your child’s teacher if you have not set up a time.
Tuesday April 11- Vesey Seed fundraiser due
Wednesday April 12- District Circulation Ball.
