Grade 2 Week at a Glance
 (Oct. 3-5)
 
Tuesday Night – Pack library books to be sent back Wednesday. 
 
Literacy:
 
Word Wall Words:  We will be reviewing the words we have introduced so far.
 
Word Family:  -in   How many words can you find that end with –in?
 
Nightly – Read “good fit” books
 
Reading strategies:
 
We will be reviewing Eagle Eye, Lips the Fish and Stretchy Snake. 
 
Comprehension Strategy
·         Making Predictions – before reading a book ask your child to predict what the book is about.  Stop mid-way and ask what your child to predict what will happen next.
 
Writing:  This week we will focus on editing our writing.  We will be looking for proper punctuation, proper use of upper/lower case letters, and finger spaces.
 
Math: We will be finishing up our unit on patterns this week.  Our next focus will be on numbers to 100.  Practice counting forward by 2’s to 20, 5’s and 10’s to 100.
 
Reminders/Important Dates:
Tuesday, Oct.4- Turkey dinner in the cafeteria-no other food will be offered…$5.75
 
Thursday, Oct.6 and Friday, Oct.7 -no school-Professional Learning Days
Monday, Oct.10-no school-Thanksgiving
 
The week of Oct.11 will be safe schools week-more info will be posted.  Please be sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing and comfortable footwear on Tuesday Oct. 11, as we will be practicing our evacuation, if weather permits.
