Nightly – read good fit books. Students now have the option of reading books online on Raz-kids, practice word wall words.

How many words can you find that end with op?
Sound Teams: soft g / hard g
The letter g makes the soft sound when it comes before the letters e, i, or y (eg. giraffe, page, stage, etc.) The letter g makes the hard sound when it comes before any other letter. (eg. Goat, gap, gum)
Reading strategies: Stretching & Blending sounds
This week we will be reviewing how to stretch and blend sounds in unknown words. Students should be able to quickly stretch the sounds and/or sound teams in the unknown word and then blend them together to solve it. Many students are able to do this, but do so slowly, which interrupts the fluency of their reading.
Writing: Conventions
This week we will continue to focus on conventions. Students should be using upper and lower case letters appropriately, spelling word wall words correctly, sounding out unknown words phonetically, and consistently using proper end punctuation and finger spaces.
Math:
We will continue to work with Numbers to 100. Please practice the following;
· Counting by 2’s, 5’s, 10’s forward and backward to/from 100, from different starting points.
· Say a number and have your child identify if it is odd or ever. Ask them how they know.
· Have your child estimate a set of objects and then check/count to see if his/her estimate was close.
· Represent numbers to 100 in a variety of ways: numeral, picture, number word, 10s and 1s.
· Ordering numbers from least to greatest/ greatest to least. Ask how they know a number is greater or less than another number.
