Week of Sept 25th update
October Calendar was sent home today (green sheet). Can you believe it's October already?

Information about the Royal Road Band Program was sent home today.

Thank you to all parents/guardians who are sending notes to school with their child regarding changes in bus/pickup. Keep them coming!

Evening Reading

Time to practice our French read-alouds! Students are expected to spend 10-15 minutes twice a week reading to a family member at home.  Every Tuesday & Friday morning Mlle. will be verifying that both student and parents/guardians are working together on this. The Evening Reading check-in sheet (yellow cardstock) is located in our yellow communciation duotang and it should stay in there so that Mlle. can see who is practicing at home. Students will be reading their french library books as well as any of our classroom leveled books. Have fun!!

Célébration des talents!
Once a month (twice in October), a select group of students will be presenting to our class something they are proud of! Maybe it’s their own written fiction or non-fiction story, photos, a homecooked treat to share with the class after explaining their recipe and cooking process (allergies to be considered), pets (upon school approval…) art, musical performances, a powerpoint slideshow or video, toys, family members, the works! Students will get 5 minutes to present, and 1-2 mins for questions. And yes, their presentation must be en Français!

Think of it like a mini talent show! The goal of this program is to showcase to the class how AWESOME and UNIQUE every student is! Your child will need your help to make sure they are well prepared and supported for their presentation.  This might mean transporting items to school. It might mean helping him/her rehearse at home. It might mean being their #1 fan and coming to class to watch them present in French! Either way, this is going to be a team effort.

Dates will be announced in the monthly calendar that are sent home in the yellow communication duotangs. If a student is absent on their presentation day, then we will make sure they can present as soon as they are ready.

This mini-presentation is meant to be fun! Students should be excited about what they are presenting, and if anyone is nervous or needs help with the language part, we’ll work on it in class to make the presentation script smooth and clear. If your child wants some tech help, just have them let me know.

That's all for now folks!
-Mlle. Perreaux
