Week at a Glance- November 20-24, 2017

Hello MAS Families! This week was a short week and a quick one. We are moving into a very busy time of year.  Our grade 4 and grade 1 students had a great visit to York Care where they painted rocks and played bean bag toss and pool noodle balloons with the residents. It was very nice to see them interact and be so kind. Today we had our Leo Hayes Clubs. The rain put a little damper on our outdoor groups, but we made some adjustments and had lots of fun inside!

Santa’s Little Helper- Home and School would like to thank all those that helped support our Santa’s Little Helper fundraiser. We raised $910.50 to go towards school initiatives.

Report Cards- Your child will be bringing home their report card for first term on Monday. Please take the time to go over the report with your child and celebrate their success and talk about areas to grow. Your pre-arranged interview time to meet with your child’s teacher will be in the envelope. If you can absolutely not make arrangements for the time, please contact the teacher and let her know.

Clothing Exchange- This will take place Thursday, November 23 evening and Friday November 24th morning till noon in the school gymnasium and is completely FREE. Parents will be able to browse through the clothing and take what they need. We are still looking for donations, so if you have warm clothes (ex. Sweaters, hats, mitts, boots, jackets, snowpants, etc) that you wouldn’t mind donating to families who need them, please contact Hegla Rennke  at 260-2017 or by e-mail at helgarennke@gmail.com. Any leftover items will be donated to the Thrift Missions Store (on Sunset Drive) right after the event. We kindly ask that the items brought in be clean and in good condition.

Bookmarks- As cold and flu season is upon us, your child will be bringing home a book mark that reminds us when and how to wash our hands.

Weather School Closures- A notice will be going home with information about weather and school closure.

Hot Lunch Order Forms- Hot lunch order forms are going home also on Monday. Reminder that payment needs to be submitted separately for each hot lunch order form.

Christmas Families- We are reaching out to our school community to see if any families are in need of extra support this Christmas. The staff, along with Home and School, and a few other local groups are looking to support some MAS families in need. If you feel you could use a little extra help (gifts, groceries, etc) PLEASE get in touch with Roxy- Roxanne.yerxa@nbed.nb.ca or Mrs. Burnett- Cynthia.burnett@nbed.nb.ca  or call 453-5422, sometime this coming week. Please note that this is kept strictly confidential.

Christmas Concert- We are looking for some volunteers with a love of being creative and enjoy to decorate. We will meet on Monday, December 4th at 6pm to brainstorm ideas and put a plan in place.
