Week at a Glance April 30-May 4

Hello MAS Families. We have had a busy week here at MAS. We celebrated Mrs Yerxa on Wednesday for Professional Administrative Assistants Day. She is so much appreciated for all the she does for both staff and students.  Thursday was National Poem in Your Pocket Day. All students met in the gymnasium to share poems they had written with friends and staff. Our grade kindergarten and grade 3s got to visit York Care and participate in parachute, bean bag toss, and bowling. They had lots of fun with many laughs and smiles! Today we had our Leo Hayes Clubs come with lots of fun activities taking place.

Homework- Our homework survey is now closed and I thank all those families that took the time to provide us with feedback. Next week I will send out an email to share with our community the results.

No School Friday, May 4th- Reminder there is no school for students this Friday, May 4th. This day is dedicated to NBTA Council Day meeting.

Bike Rodeo- Wednesday, May 9th students are invited back to school at 1:30pm with their bicycles. We will have a bike rodeo course set up and the City Police will be here to go over bike safety and to check bikes over. It will be lots of fun and last about 30-45mins!

Cashless Schools- On Monday we sent home information for online payments for school fees. This is up and running already. Some families have registered fro our MAS Color Splash Dash online and our grade 5s have been able to pay for swimming.

MAS Color Splash Dash- Reminder MAS will be hosting a fun color run fundraising event in June. This is a 1km or 2 km walk/run. We will have a start line and participants will run a course route. Participants are asked to wear white t-shirts as throughout the run they will be splashed with colorful powder. Registration forms have gone home. Please invite friends and family and come on out to this FUN fundraising event.

Creative Clusters- Throughout the month of May and June we will be doing creative clusters and offering students enrichment opportunities based on individual interests. We want to offer students as many interest group choices as possible. If you have an idea or talent that you could volunteer an hour and half for 6 Wednesdays (May 16 to June 20th) and would like to share your knowledge with our students, please let me know. We would love help from our MAS community.
