Week at a Glance Jan. 21-25 , 2019

Hello MAS Families! It has been a cold, but great week at MAS. This week we started our Breakfast program and it was wonderful to have 45 students attend. We are really looking forward to this for the remainder of the school year.  We also had a visit today from Mike Richard who made a generous donation of $6000 to our school library and memorial award. It will be exciting time for students in helping purchase books to replenish our current school library.

Reminders:

Safe Arrival New System- We are piloting a new safe arrival program. Students are bringing home an important information notice today that explains the safe arrival program and changes that are being made.  One important change to note, that starting on Monday- If your child will be absent from school the number to call is 1-833-294-4838.  There is also an app that can be downloaded onto a mobile device. If you do not use the new system to call in and report student absence, you will receive a phone call from the automated system.

K-2 Parent Forum- I am still looking for a mixed group of K-2 parents that would be willing to meet the evening (6pm) of January 28th with our Extended day researcher. He is looking to speak to parents and get your input and feedback on the extra hour. Please email or call the school if you are interested.

Breakfast Program-  Tuesday- scrambled eggs and toast. When the students arrive at school, if they wish to come have breakfast, please remind them to come in our grade 3-5 door. We will take off our boots, put our coats and book bags in classroom then head down to the gymnasium to enjoy breakfast together. When the bell rings and once students are finished they will head up to class to start their day with full bellies. If you have any questions or would like to help out, please contact Helga (helgarennke@gmail.com) or Mrs. Burnett at the school.

Ringette Field Trip Grades 3-5- Fredericton is hosting the 2019 Atlantic Ringette Championships from January 25th to 27th at the Willie O’Ree Arena.  As part of this event they have invited our grade 3-5 students to attend the tournament on Friday, January 25.  Students will attend opening ceremonies leaving the school at 11:30am and returning at 1:30pm. We will have lunch before we leave and a snack upon return.
