Hello MAS Families! Time to say goodbye to January and hello to February. It has been a cold week, but here is hoping next week is warmer. Please remind student to dress for the cold weather as we will go outside when we can. We had a visit this week and were entertained by the UNB Sting Quartet through the Conservatory. They were great! Also, Congratulations to our students that participated in NBA 2 Ball at UNB on Wednesday. Lots of fun was had by all.

Reminders:

Chinese New Year Celebrations: We will be connecting with the local Chinese community to help present a celebration of the Chinese New Year on February 5th.

Safe Arrival New System- Just a reminder of the protocol for our safe arrival system now- If your child will be absent from school the number to call is 1-833-294-4838. There is also an app that can be downloaded onto a mobile device. If you do not use the new system to call in and report student absence, you will receive a phone call from the automated system.

District Education Council – The District Education Council met on Thursday, January 31st and motioned for option #3 to vote to close McAdam Avenue School. More details on this decision were sent home on Friday and more information will be sent as it becomes available.

Breakfast Program- Tuesday - This Tuesday will be Muffins and apple slices. When the students arrive at school, if they wish to come have breakfast, please remind them to come in our grade 3-5 door. We will take off our boots, put our coats and book bags in classroom then head down to the gymnasium to enjoy breakfast together. When the bell rings and once students are finished they will head up to class to start their day with full bellies.

Breakfast Program Volunteers-  We are putting out the call for volunteers for the month of February. If you can join us one Tuesday morning or more, please let Helga know. We ask volunteers to arrive at school at 7:40am and we are done around 8:30am with clean up. If you have any questions or would like to sign up to help out, please contact Helga (helgarennke@gmail.com).

Skating- We will be doing a whole school skating trip to Willie O'Ree on March 1st. Permission slips are due on February 8th.

School Milk program: Orders for the milk program are due this Thursday, February 7th.

Northside School Hockey Night- Our Northside school night with UNB hockey is Saturday, Feb. 9th. A notice was sent home with information in regards to purchasing tickets at the box office. Hope you can make it!

Nutrition Month – March is Nutrition Month. To prepare students from McAdam Avenue School will be traveling this month to the Superstore to meet with a nutritionist.
