Week at a Glance Nov. 11- 15

Hello MAS families! We ended the week with a wonderful Remembrance Day ceremony. I want to Thank Ms. Bush, the students, and the other staff for such a nice presentation of remembrance.

It looks like the snow is visiting us already and with that please be sure your child is coming to school prepared to be outside in the weather. I also recommend this time of year to pack extra socks and mitts as they tend to get wet.

Our wonderful community partner York Care will be providing our students with snack every third Wednesday starting on November 20th. They will be providing all students with a muffin, juice, and cheese string or yogurt.

A few reminders-

No School- Reminder there is no school Friday, November 8 and on Monday, November 11.

Breakfast Program- Tuesday, November 12- Cereal and smoothies

School Clothing Order- Orders are due back on Friday, November 15th. This is completely optional. You can use schoolcashonline to pay, but we ask that all order forms be returned to the school.

Parent Workshop Evening- On Thursday, November 14th we will be partnering with Nasis Memorial school and be hosting a parent night with the guest speakers of “It’s OK to be Awesome”. These ladies offer workshops for parents around Mental wellness strategies to use with your child, Mindset coaching for parents, Real-life application exercises, and Hand-outs to take home. Thank you to our PSSC for offering this to our parent community. Please complete the survey link- https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Q2YYNZQ

Report Cards- Report cards for term one will be sent home on Monday, November 18th. Parent teacher interviews will follow on Thursday, November 21st evening, and on Friday, November 22nd morning. We encourage all parents to attend and meet and talk with your child’s teacher to learn about your child’s academic progress. Please return interview time form to your child’s classroom teacher by Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Clothing Exchange- We will be having another clothing exchange. We are looking for winter clothing donations. We will begin to collect items at the school on Wednesday, November 13th to Wednesday, November 20th. During that time you are welcome to drop off clean and in good condition items to be donated. During parent teacher interview days (Thursday and Friday) the clothing will be out in the gymnasium for families to browse through and take as needed.

UNB Hockey Northside Elementary Night- It is time again for UNB Reds Men’s Hockey Northside Elementary Schools Night taking place on Friday, November 15th  at the Aitken Centre when the UNB Reds host the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus at 7pm.  This is one of the most exciting nights of the year for both students and the Reds!

Again Parents will have to go to the Aitken Centre Box Office to pick up both their child’s free ticket and the parents ½ price $ 6.00 ticket.  Parents can get their ½ price ticket on game night but they are encouraged to pick them up by 4:30pm on Friday, November 15th as tickets tend to sell out fast.  Both the parent and child must have a ticket to the game.  Each school will have an assigned section at the rink when parents pick up their tickets they just need to say what school they are with.  The Aitken Centre Box office is open from 10:00am-4:30pm Monday to Friday. Doors open at 6pm on Game night. The first 20 elementary students to arrive at the AUC game-night will each receive (for them only):

1) Invite to the post-game team visit

2) UNB REDS t-shirt

Town Hall Transportation Meeting- Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend the upcoming meeting at Nashwaaksis Middle School (Theatre & Cafeteria) on Wednesday, November 27th 6:30-8:30pm.

Christmas Angel Tree Families- We will once again be doing our Christmas Angel tree to help support our school families. We are reaching out to our families to see if any are in need of some extra support this Christmas. The past year with support from staff, school community, and a few local groups we were able to give a little extra help to 5 families.  If you would like some help this Christmas (groceries, gifts, clothing, etc.) PLEASE get in touch with Roxy roxanne.yerxa@nbed.nb.ca or Mrs Burnett Cynthia.burnett@nbed.nb.ca or call us at school 453-5422 by November 29th.
