​Hello MAS Families! It has been a great week here at MAS. Our grade 1-2s got to meet some caterpillars and are beginning to learn about the life cycle and watching them grow and change. Our grade 3-5 finished the week at the Corbett Centre Duck Pond where they learned about water critters and nature.

Covid Reminder- With lots of attention lately in our area around Covid,  I was reminded of our parent session with our Child and Youth team last week and wanted to share their message that may be helpful to some of our families. They shared with parents about how to and what to talk to our children about in regards to covid that is age and developmentally appropriate. The message was to choose a consistent message- yes it is a virus, yes you can get sick, yes it can be scary, and yes we are doing what the doctors are telling us to do to keep us safe. It is important to keep it simple and consistent and limit the sharing of media and adult conversations with the children.

No School May 17^th- NBTA Branch Day for teachers.

Jump Rope for Heart- We had a successful Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser. Our top fundraisers that will get to pie a staff member of their choice are: Evelyn, Ryker, Lucas, Reagan, and Landon. Thank you to all that participated.

Provincial Assessments- Our grade 4 students will be participating in the Provincial Reading assessment this week on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The assessments are used to help our province track trends in learning over time, inform decisions, and provides the school with data on success in curriculum and standards.

Hot Lunch Order Forms- They are due back on Tuesday

Tuesday, May 18- Hot lunch- Great Canadian Bagel. Grade 5s go swimming. Hot lunch order forms due back for June.

Wednesday, May 19- Apples and cheese string for whole school snack

Thursday, May 20- Grade 5s go swimming.

Friday, May 21- Hot lunch- Papa John’s
