Good morning parents of the fabulous 5s!

Here is what we are learning in the grade 5 classroom this week...

French: Due to Christmas concert practices, our MOCO trip, mystery chef visits and other exciting Christmas related activities, we are still finishing up our food unit. Students have begun their menus, however we will begin the clothing unit later this week.

Math: Students will be assessed on their ability to complete long division questions this week, and we will be continuing to learn about how to interpret remainders.

Some important notes...

Clothing: The weather has been extremely chilly. If the temperature is -18 or above, we will stay in. However, if the weather permits, we will send students outside. Please make sure students come with snow pants, hats, and mitts. I would also suggest sending extra socks and mitts, as these often get wet.

Mystery Chefs: We have had two mystery chef guests visit our classroom. Students continue to talk about how much they enjoyed learning how to roll dough, measure ingredients, follow a recipe, bake, decorate, and eat delicious treats. We are so grateful to Bonnie Phillips and Patti Davis for volunteering in our classroom, to provide students with experiences they will never forget.

Christmas concert: A reminder that our Christmas concert is today, at 1 pm. Our run through this morning was wonderful, and this is a concert you won't want to miss!

Shopping spree: Our shopping spree is this Wednesday

Pancake breakfast and Christmas pj day: Students will enjoy a pancake breakfast on Thursday. Students are invited to wear their Christmas pjs as well.

Thank you for your continued support, and have a very Merry Christmas!
Sincerely,
Liz McCabe
