Good afternoon!
 
I hope everyone had a wonderful March break, and that students are well rested and ready to work hard!
 
Here is what we are learning in the grade 5 classroom this week...
 
Math: In Math, we will be reviewing concepts learned before March break as I will be assessing their understanding of perimeter and area. We will also begin an exploration of volume!
 
Literacy: Students have begun the publishing stage of their small moment pieces. This will be marked for report cards, and a copy will be sent home for your review in the upcoming weeks. This week, we will begin narratives!!
 
Social Science: We will continue our investigation of friction this week (Science), as well as first nations culture (Social Studies)
 
Health/PDCP: In Health this week, we will be exploring careers!
 
Important notes:
 
Business Expo: Our business expo will take place on Wednesday, April 4th at 12:30 pm. This will take place in the gymnasium, at MAS.  Students will be encouraged to stay and eat their lunch at school, in order to allow extra time for preparation etc. PLEASE spread the word, and invite friends/grandparents and other community members to attend!! There will be a variety of items for sale!
 
Grad gift: As the grad gift this year, we will be purchasing a yearbook for each grade 5 student!
 
Hockey Game: A reminder that the hockey game at the Aitken Centre is THIS FRIDAY, March 16th! A reminder regarding permission forms, and that students are to be picked up at the Aitken Centre!
