E-Newsletter May 28- June 1st
Good afternoon parents,
Another busy week ahead! Reminder that Tuesday May 29th is a half day, students will be dismissed at 11:30. Tuesday is also our Spring Concert. Parents are invited to join us here at MAS at 10:00am (doors will open at 9:45am) to see our drama group performance, along with hearing all our classes take the stage to share a song they have been learning in music.
There is a drama practice after school today (Monday May 28th) from 3:05-4:15pm.
On Thursday May 31st our class will be attending the Grade 5 Orientation at Nasis School. Students really enjoyed their tour with the guidance counsellor last week. I believe these visits are getting them excited and more comfortable with the idea of going there next year.
Here is what we are learning in grade 5 this week….
Math: Students continue their statistics and probability unit. They are collecting their own data and making their own graphs. We will also be looking at if events are impossible/possible or certain.
Literacy: We just began “The Witches” by Roald Dahl. This is a continuation of our author study this year. Students will be working on some funny activities related to the book. Students are continuing to finish up their persuasive writing (our formal writing piece for the semester). We are also working a lot on editing our own writing, specifically spelling, capital letters and punctuation.
This Week- Grade 2 and Grade 4 begin provincial assessments continue. (until June 1)
Monday May 28-  Bagel hot lunch. Drama practice after school 3-4:15apm.
