Busy week of learning!

We have had a very busy week of learning this week and I am very proud of the hard work the children are demonstrating.  Below are a few highlights of our learning.  Included under each heading are the video links the children enjoyed this week.

  • We have continued on with our Jolly Phonics sounds and have been introduced to the letters Ee and Hh.
  • In writing, we have been working on talking about our experiences and sharing them with our friends in partners and in the whole group.  We drew pictures of our Thanksgiving weekend.  We have been taught how to label our pictures with familiar words such as mom and dad and some of us are trying to print the first sounds we hear in our words.
  • We have been introduced to two new sight words the, I and have enjoyed new sight word activities and games.
  • We have learned that letters make up words and words make up sentences.  Words are groups of letters put together with spaces between them.
  • We have begun learning a new routine for "Learning Stations" and on Thursday, we practiced for the first time and did an amazing job.  It doesn't seem fair that we have 5 jobs to do during learning stations and Mrs. Tingley only has one job and that is to work with students.
Math

  • We have continued with our patterning unit and have learned what the core of the pattern means and how to correlate a colour or shape pattern to a letter pattern.  (ABAB, ABCABC, AABAAB)
  • Each day during our calendar routine, we practice counting up to the date, counting on one more and one less, today, yesterday and tomorrow  and recognizing groups of dots at a glance up to the number 6.
You and Your World

  • This week, we discussed the season of Fall and all the changes that this season entails.  We learned why trees turns colours in the fall and lose their leaves and we had a lot of fun fingerpainting fall trees.
