Notes from the grade 5 classroom...
Good morning parents of the fabulous 5s!
We are having a busy December in the grade 5 classroom! Students are working hard in all areas, and are enjoying exciting Christmas activities. Here is an update from the grade 5 class...

French: We are still working on our food unit. Our mystery chefs have been a HUGE success, and I would like to personally thank Mrs. McAllister and Mrs. Hallett for coming in to share their love of cooking with the students. We have one more surprise guest coming in next week!

Students are learning to express their likes and dislikes, and we are currently discussing healthy food choices. We have also begun to incorporate Christmas vocabulary, and students are definitely in the Christmas spirit!

Math: In the grade 5 classroom, things are rolling right along! We are currently working on N7 (Demonstrating an understanding of fractions, including equivalent fractions and comparison of fractions with like and unlike denominators.) PLEASE continue to practice those basic facts nightly with your child, as it is very important for upcoming Math concepts.

Notes..

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16th: Pita pizza day. Students must bring in their preferred toppings, and I will provide a pita for each child. We will discuss our topping choices, as well as continue our reading of "Une pizza parfaite" regarding a "perfect pizza."

MONDAY, DECEMBER 19th: Field trip to the Northside Superstore. Please send in the permission slip ASAP. We will be grocery shopping, as well as having a presentation by the Superstore dietician, regarding healthy food choices.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22nd: Art Richard concert at Royal Road. Please send in the signed permission slip!

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23rd: A Reminder that this is a half day for students

Wishing all families a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! It has been a pleasure working with your children this semester, and I look forward to new adventures in the grade 5 classroom in 2017!
Thank you for your continued support,
Liz McCabe
