Let’s get totally gnarly Broncos! Bring out your leg warmers, dust off your moon boots – it’s gonna be radical and totally tubular – like no duh! Dig into your parents closets and get on your totally 80’s leg warmers and neon clothes. Bayside Middle will be hosting a “back to the 80’s” dance party Thursday January 25th from 6:30 – 8:30. $5 at the door. Come hungry and bring your pocket change cause we’re also going to be selling grilled cheese and treats from the canteen. (announce till the  25th)

STOMP:

Mrs. Sabin would like to celebrate the amazing powerpoint skills that Aiden Smith (from Mrs. Sabin’s homeroom) displayed during PDCP on Tuesday. 

She would also like to celebrate Alex Daigle & Kenney Sparks and William Crowe & Reilly Creamer for displaying good team work during Social Studies this week.

Mr Robinson would like to give a shout out to his own class, as well as 8 Heward and 8 Hickey for working so well on their Turning Point Essays. The students have been focused and are really putting in for good effort to improve their writing, and maybe even try to win the Turning Point provincial writing competition! Keep up the good work!

Shout out to Mr. Robinson and his wife on the birth of their daughter yesterday….We think they should name her STOMPER BRONCO ROBINSON.

Basketball

Boys- Boys team will open up their season this Friday versus Rivervalley. Good luck.

Please bring in your $75 athletic fee by the end of next week.

 

Girls-game today after school in our gym.. Please be ready to go at 3:15 pm.

 

Intramurals-

Gr 6 intramurals kick off today at 1215. Griffin will face both Allaby and Rossignol. Allaby will also play the Ross/Sabin combined team. Schofield will challenge the Welch gang.

 

 (READ for this week) Homeroom teachers, please ensure you have a “solid “ line up so your class doesn’t forfeit. Remember you need appropriate footwear. No spectators. No leaving the gym to go outside after your game. Students can come down at 1215 bell.

There will be a white board by the gym office with games and courts you need to report to.

STOMP: Mr Shephard would like to celebrate Ally Wade on thinking of others. Over Christmas break she donated money including her birthday money to the SPCA to help animals in need.  Very classy Ally.

Intramurals- Intramurals will start next Monday. Teachers were forwarded all info to share with you. Based on a few classes with low numbers, you will compete as a combined class.

Monday all gr 7 classes will compete, Tuesdays are for gr 8’s and the teacher team,  gr 6 classes play on Wednesdays, but due to the ½ day next week, they will play on thursday.

Girls- Grades 7s and 8s are invited to a tryout on Thursday after school. Make sure your drivers are here before 5:00 pm. Also, the girls who tried out yesterday are invited to attend as well. Any Grade 6s who did not try out yesterday and still interested, please see Mr. Laskey sometime today.

 

Intramurals- sick of the cold and wet lunch hours. How does basketball in a warm gym sound?

The PE leadership will be around tomorrow block D to find out who is interested in playing basketball at lunch. They may do class vs class or may have 6 divisions, gr 6,7,8 boys, and 6, 7, 8 girls pending on interest. Could homeroom teachers please take names of these students and give to the leqdership team when they come around. Please share what you prefer, class vs class or a girl division, and a boy one.

 

GRAD HOODIES:  Mr. Manuel has 1 extra Grad hoodie, an Extra Large, $30.

Girls 1st basketball tryouts will be this Tuesday till 5pm.  Please note that this tryout is for Grade 6’s and for those who made the team last year. Grades 7s and 8s who would like to tryout are invited to a tryout on Thursday after school. Make sure your drivers are here before 5:00 pm.

 

Student Council: Meeting today in room 309 at the beginning of lunch – it’s important for all members to attend.

 

Mr. Manuel has 2 extra Grad hoodies leftover, a Large and an Extra Large.  First students with $30 can purchase them.

Christmas Challenge is tomorrow. Pay $1.00 and decorate and dress yourself up in a Christmas fashion. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative looks.

 

Please take lunch boxes home by the end of the day tomorrow. Any remaining in the cafeteria will be thrown out at 3:00 pm tomorrow.

STOMP: Ms. A would like to give a shout out to her Term 2 classes who helped make decorations and ornaments AND set up the stage for the Champlain Heights Elementary School Holiday Concert yesterday. Ms. A and her students were only given 2 DAYS to make our auditorium look awesome, and it really did, thanks to the students in 8 Hickey, 8 McCarthy, and 7 Godreau-McCarthy. Ms. A would also like to thank students in 7 Cochennec, 7 Godreau-MCarthy, 7 McNutt, 7 White, 8 Robinson, 8 Hickey, 8 Clark                        and 8 McCarthy for making vintage holiday cards for the residents at the Loch Lomond Villa. They are beautiful, and will be delivered before the end of the week.  J

Students have been informed to meet on the stairwell next to the auditorium during break between block B and C for a yearbook photo. This photo is only for those with their grad hoodies. (say twice)

TALENT SHOW – The talent show will be Tonight, December 19th at 7pm!! Doors will open at 6:30pm.

-      Grade 6’s performing Lost Boy in the talent show are to see Miss Lucy in the Music room today at 12:15.

Me to We:

Thank you to the entire Bayside community!!  The Me to We book drive collected more than 1250 books to be donated to Saint John the Baptist/King Edward School tomorrow.  Congratulations to Grade 6 Welch for bringing the most books overall!! They donated half of the books collected! Congratulations as well to Mme. Rossignol’s class for coming in second.  Both classes should have received their treats this morning.
