Island View Receives Donation for Inclusive Playground

​"Island View School is so grateful to receive a very generous donation of $7,000 from the New Brunswick Children’s Foundation to assist us in reaching our fundraising goal for an inclusive playground for our school community.”​

A Tale of Arendelle - Help Needed!

Attention parents and guardians! As you know we have an exciting musical performance coming up in May. Students and teachers have been hard at work with rehearsals and preparations for our show, A Tale of Arendelle, scheduled to run the evening of May 17th and May 18th. We are looking for help from parents and guardians with costumes, supervision the night of the show, props and sets. Estey's Art After School Program

A reminder to parents and students that Estey's Art After School Program begins this Thursday and Friday. It is not too late to sign up for students who are interested. To register please call 638-9194 or register online at www.esteyart.com. ​

Scentsy Fundraiser!

​Good Morning Island View Families! We have kicked off our Scenty fundraiser to help raise monies towards our new playground. You can order Car Bars (great for your car, gym bag, lockers, etc!) via the form that was sent home last week, or you can visit http://tanyahenrymorse.scentsy.ca and order any of your favourite Scentsy products. Orders must be in by March 3rd and items will be available to be picked up during Parent Teacher on March 31st.

Santa's Workshop

​Hello IVS families,

Santa's Workshop is scheduled for Monday, Dec.19.  If you have any items to donate, please send them in tomorrow (Friday).  This allows our volunteers to have everything organized for this exciting event!

IVS Messages for Dec. 9

Good Day IVS Families!

Santa Workshop – We are finding ourselves short on gifts for the kids to select from for their family members this year. At this point, we have enough gifts for the first rotation of students and we have three rotations during the day.  It would be greatly appreciated if you can support by sending in small gifts for this event.

We also have a “Bare Necessity” tree where we accept donations of new hats, mitts, socks and underwear for children. These are delivered to children in need on the west side.

Thanks to all who have send in items and are volunteering for this event! It is going to be great!

Christmas Craft sale, Dec. 10- is tomorrow!!!! We hope to see everyone out to this event.  We open at 10:00am and close at 2:00pm with over 50 vendors.  The costs is $2 per person (children are free). This is one of the best craft fairs of the season!

December Milk and Hot Lunch Ordering Dates – orders for the month of January open on December 5th and close on December 21st at midnight.   

Hour of Code – was a great success as several classes we able to take part in the event.  We were thrilled to have players from the Saint John Riptide basketball team visit our school.  We appreciate the hard work of Mrs. Cheryl Willson from our PSSC and her husband Mr. Jeff Willson from Brillant Labs for their support as well as all our parent volunteers: Mr. Underhill, Mr. Cho and Mrs. Masson for volunteering with the event.

Lancaster Christmas Parade – A huge thank you to Mrs. Lindsay MacDonald for taking the lead this year and what an amazing job!  It was a true team effort with many families helping out and making it a positive experience for our school community.
 
Therrien Family Fundraiser – we want to thank the family for their generosity in opening up their “Haunted Manor” for our families with a donation towards our Playground Fund.  Thanks to all who visited and made a donation.
 
Ring a Bell / DotsNB – on Friday, Dec. 2nd we were excited to have our local MLA Dorothy Shepherd at IVS to communicate a message on positive mental health to our students.  The students “rang a bell” to bring awareness on the importance of positive children’s mental health.
 
Registration for Grade 1, 3, 6 – these forms are due back on Friday, Dec. 2nd. All students currently in grade K, 2, and 5 are required to register (for either French Immersion or English Prime).
 
H and S Fundraiser  Order forms  came home last week for Java Moose Coffee. Order forms are due back by Dec. 9th and orders will be distributed on Dec. 19.  Please make cheques payable to the “Island View Home and School Association”.
 
50 / 50 – Don’t forget to send in your toonie for our next week’s draw by Wednesday. You can’t win if you don’t play.  Next week’s draw will be over $400 for the winner. Report Cards/ Parent Teacher Conferences – thank you to our families for your ongoing involvement and partnership in your child’s education. We appreciate your support of IVS!

Seadogs Vouchers – next week students will come home with a voucher that is redeemable for six (by one adult ticket get one child ticket) to the Saint John Seadogs games.
 
Grade 5 Hoodies Payment – to families who ordered a grade 5 sweatshirt, please send in payment ($25) as soon as possible.  Any cheques should be made out to Lester’s Trophies.
 
MP Taekwondo School Information – Mr. Pollock presented to our students last week on respect, diversity and anti-bullying.  Part of the presentation included a martial arts demonstration.  For any of our students/families who may be interested please see the flyer attached.
 
Scholastic Book Fair- A big thank you to our parent volunteers for coordinating and working our book fair.  It is such an exciting experience for our students and provides a great opportunity for them to select books of interest to support reading for personal enjoyment.
