March 12
Tuesday, March 12, 2019

Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary School with your Tuesday talk mail.
Yesterday, we sent home a letter asking if you could send in some STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) supplies. Examples of what we are looking for are listed in the letter. Thanks to all of you who have already sent in things!   Nobody gets more excited than us when we see tape, egg cartons and coffee filters and plates coming through the door! Please continue to send in these items throughout the year so that we can continue to offer STEM opportunities.
The sun is shining and it finally feels like Spring may be around the corner. Please continue to dress your child warmly as it is still cold in the mornings. As it gets wet on the playground, it is a good time to check and make sure that your child has at least 1 complete change of clothing, including extra socks and mittens at school.
On Friday, our grade 2 students are travelling to Elmhurst Outdoors. Please ensure permission forms have been returned.
A reminder that James Mullinger is headlining our spring fundraiser on April 25th at Hampton High school. We still have a few tickets left so contact us if you would like to make a purchase.
Our March newsletter and calendar are included in this email. Please take some time to review what is happening this month.
That’s it for today! Thanks for listening!

Hi everyone,
It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary School with your Tuesday talk mail.
Happy 100th Day of school! We will be celebrating the 100th day all week in our numeracy lessons.
We also are celebrating Kindness Week this week! We know kindness starts at home, so we want everyone in your family to have the opportunity to be involved! As part of this week, we are making a kindness chain. Each time we perform an act of kindness, it will be written on a strip of paper and linked to another act of kindness. We hope that these links will form a kindness chain that will link all around the inside of the school! Tonight, we are sending home strips of paper so you, too, can be included in our kindness chain. When you perform an act of kindness, just write it on one of the strips and send it in by Friday. We are also sending a kindness scavenger hunt for you to complete at home if you wish.
Part of being kind is doing something nice for others in our community. I know that, like many of us, the residents of the Dr. Snow Centre are finding this winter long and difficult. In an effort to lift their spirits and be kind , we, as a school, will make colourful pictures and/or cards for them. All of our kindness cards and pictures will be delivered to them on Friday.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, is Pink Shirt Day, a day where students wear pink to show they will be kind, and will not bully. Our WITS community leaders will be coming to the school to visit us that day. You may want to ask your child how they have been using their WITS at home and at school.
On Thursday, our grade 2 students are travelling to Elmhurst Outdoors. Please make sure all permission forms are returned by Thursday.  Our other classes will have, or have had, a science lesson from the Hampton Angling Association.
Friday is pajama day! Students may wear their pajamas to school.
A reminder that next week is March Break. I hope that whether you are going away, or staying close to home, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a little extra time with your children. They are pretty special!
That’s it for today! Thanks for listening!

Hi everyone,
It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary School with your Tuesday talk mail.
On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to thank you, once again, for all the wonderful ways you showed your appreciation to us last week, during Staff Appreciation Week! We were very spoiled! Thank you very much!
Thanks to all who came to cheer on our grade 2 choir at the Sea dogs game Friday night. Our choir did a fabulous job and, as always, made us very proud!
Speaking of the Sea dogs, if you haven’t bought a chance to win tickets to the Sea dogs for a March Break game, on March 3, you still have 1 more day to do so. The winners will be drawn tomorrow.
Hot lunch orders are coming home today.
Mad Science information forms are also coming home today. Mad Science will be starting a new session after March Break. Remember to register directly with them if you are interested.
This coming Sunday is Random Acts of Kindness Day, and next Wednesday, February 27 is Pink shirt day. Next week, we will be celebrating kindness ever day! Stay tuned for how you can help celebrate kindness at home!
