Hi everyone,
It’s Lisa Jardine calling with a very special talk mail regarding our Christmas concerts.
We had planned to have our Christmas concerts at the Hampton Baptist Church on Wednesday. However, the church has been undergoing renovations, and like most renovations, things are taking a little longer than expected. Unfortunately, the church will not be ready for us to have our concerts there.
Luckily, our friends at Hampton High School have generously allowed us to have our concerts in their theatre. The times of the concerts will be the same, but we will be at Hampton High School. Parking could be limited, so if you can carpool that would be helpful. There will be parking down by the tennis courts and along the roadway. Parking in the staff parking lot will be very limited as school will be in session.
I am sure no matter where we are, our children will do a beautiful job!
Have a nice weekend!

Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine calling with your Tuesday talk mail.
Home and School has been very busy and have some updates to share:
  1. Christmas Concert VIP Tickets – Tickets will go home with students today.  There will 2 winners for each concert.  Each winner will receive a row of seating (5-6 people), and a reserved parking spot for one (1) vehicle. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.  Winners will be announced on Monday, December 17th, 2018.  Tickets MUST be received by 9 AM, on December 17th, 2018.
  2. Second Cup Fundraiser – Orders will go home with children tomorrow.
  3. Match Box Pizza Fundraiser – Forms have been sent home and must be returned by December 17th, to allow time to get the vouchers to the children before Christmas Break. This is a great stocking stuffer and supports a local business!
  4. Children’s Christmas Dinner – Our whole school Christmas dinner is next Tuesday and your support of this event has been amazing! As of this morning, all food has been donated! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!  In the event of a snow day, the children will be served dinner at the school on the Thursday.
Tomorrow is our second Wednesday in December enrichment afternoon. Our students are loving the opportunity to learn so many new things!
All classes go skating this Friday. Thanks again to all of you who are volunteering to help us with this!
Next Monday is our Christmas concert rehearsal. All students and staff will be walking to the Hampton Baptist Church to practice first thing in the morning, and will not return to the school until almost lunch recess.
Next Wednesday, we are holding our concerts, and next Friday, the last day before holidays, is a full day. We should be peeling them off the ceiling by that point!
Finally, an important announcement for parents who signed up for babysitting at HHS:
“Unfortunately, the email address was incorrect on the flyer. Parents who are interested in the babysitting service, need to call 832-6024 or email HamptonHS.SRC@gmail.com to confirm a spot."
That’s a lot for today! Thanks for listening and stay warm!

Tuesday, December 4, 2018

Hi everyone,
It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary with your Tuesday talk mail.
Skating started today. Thanks to all of you who came to help!

Tomorrow is our first Wednesday in December enrichment afternoon. This year, children can choose from several different sessions including baking, coding, crafts, pottery, snap circuits, music, math, golf, Mad Science, police detectives, cup stacking, a nature walk, and a session on children’s rights. I want to thank all of you who have stepped forward to volunteer your time and talents with us.
Our December newsletter and calendar was sent out yesterday. Please take some time to look for all of the exciting things happening this month! One event all of you will be interested in is your child’s Christmas concert. Every year, we try our best to accommodate seating and busy schedules. This year, we are trying something new and will be looking for your feedback. We will be holding 3 separate concerts on Wednesday, Dec. 19th at the Hampton Baptist Church. All kindergarten students will perform at 9:00am.  When they finish, we hope to provide time for parents to get in and out of the parking lot, and then begin our grade 2 concert at 10:00am. When the grade 2 classes finish, we will provide time for parents to get in and out of the parking lot and then the grade 1 concert will begin and all grade 1 students will perform their concert at 11:15am. This plan sounds like it may work for all parents, but, like all good plans, it could be a disaster! We will hope for the best and look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Luckily, Home and School will be selling Best Seat in the House and VIP parking tickets for each concert. Buy a ticket and know you’ll be parked and seated up front no matter what!
Thanks to those of you who have already contributed to our whole school Christmas dinner! I am happy to report that Kredls has agreed to donate all of the rest of the potatoes and carrots needed! All we are looking for now are turkeys! Please see the Home and School Facebook page if you are interested in contributing. If we have any left over food, we will distribute to the Hampton Food Bank. Please see the Home and School Facebook page if you are interested in contributing.
Home and School is also selling Match Box Pizza coupons.  For only $20, you can buy a Match Box coupon good for a 16” Round 3 topping pizza and a 12” garlic fingers (value of $26).  $5 from each sale will go directly to our Inclusive Education & Play Initiative.
That’s it for today! Thanks for listening to this lengthy message!

Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary with your Tuesday talk mail.
Thank you for coming to Parent/Teacher and thank you for supporting our Scholastic book fair. Thanks to your support, we will be able to purchase $300.00 of books for the school.
Skating starts next week! Skating permission forms will be sent home this week. In order to skate at the rink, students must wear a helmet, skates, warm mittens and snow pants. Unfortunately, because of new safety guidelines, we are unable to loan helmets. We do have a few pairs of skates that we can lend, so please contact your child’s teacher if you need to borrow skates. Please do not wait until the day your child skates to request a pair of skates. We have several children skating on each day and we won’t be able to coordinate who gets to borrow the skates when on the day of skating. If you are able to help assist with skating, either by transporting bags, walking with us to the rink, or helping to tie skates, please contact your child’s teacher. We’d love to have your help! Skating costs are covered by your child’s student fee.

Usually, at this time of year, we ask for you to bring a food donation to our Christmas concerts, happening on December 19th, but this year we are going to ask if, instead, you can donate food for 2 new school wide initiatives:
The first initiative is our school wide Christmas dinner taking place on Tuesday, December 18th. We are looking for 15 large turkeys, ten 10 lb bags of potatoes and 16 2lb bags of carrots. Please see the Leatherbarrow Home and School Page for details.

The second initiative is “Two Can Dance,” our first annual food drive to strengthen our bodies and help our community at the same time! This initiative will take place December 3-7th. For this, we ask that you please donate 2 canned goods for your child to use as weights to strengthen his or her arm and shoulder muscles while they dance in Phys.ed! These cans that will be used to strengthen our bodies, will be used to nourish others’ bodies as we will donate them all to the Hampton Food Bank after we finish using them.

That’s it for today! Thanks for listening!
