Hi everyone,
It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary School with your Tuesday talk mail.
One of the ends policies of our school improvement plan is to strengthen family engagement and community partnerships. Our PSSC has established a new and exciting initiative to do this called the "Nominate a Neighbour" Campaign.  Every student and their family may know someone who would be a perfect volunteer in our school who might not otherwise volunteer. It could be a neighbour with grandchildren who live far away, an aunt, a family friend or someone else you know who would like to come and share their time and talent with us.  We will be sending a Nominate a Neighbour invitation home with each student with the hope that each family can invite 1 person from the community to volunteer with us. Invitations will be sent home with your child next week. As always, participation in this initiative is voluntary. If you do participate, Halloween's trick or treating might provide an optimal opportunity to give out your invitation to someone you know.
Home and School is meeting this Thursday evening at 6:30pm.
A reminder that all Terrific Tuesday movie permission forms and money are due this Friday.
Mad Science is offering a new 6 week program at Leatherbarrow, focusing on Inventions and Investigation, every Tuesday after school starting on Tuesday, Nov. 7 and running until Tuesday, December 12th. Students are coming home this evening with information sheets outlining the whole program. As always, you register online directly with Mad Science and registrations are on a first come first serve basis. Classes fill quickly so, if you are interested, register right away.
Hampton Elementary School's Home & School Association is having a Movie Night on Friday, October 20th at 7:00pm. Your child will be bringing home a little promo note from HES detailing the event if you are interested.
Finally, HALL is hosting a baby and child gear yard sale this Saturday, October 21 from 8:30-11:30am at the upstairs hall of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church on Main Street. All are welcome to come and shop gently used children’s clothing, toys, baby equipment and more.
Thanks for listening. Enjoy your day!

Hi everyone,
It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary with your Tuesday talk mail. I hoped everyone enjoyed a Happy Thanksgiving with your families!
It’s Kindergarten Registration Week! If you have a child, or know of a child, who will be turning 5 in 2018, please make sure that they register for kindergarten this week. Our Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Hebert, is available to register students today through Friday from 7:45-3:15pm. We look forward to seeing many of you here!
It is also Fire Safety week here at Leatherbarrow. We will be talking about all the ways to prevent fire and to stay safe. Our whole school will be participating in a fire evacuation to Hampton Elementary School on Thursday and all kindergarten students will be going to the fire station on Friday. Also on Thursday, all students will participate in “Dinobus” the school bus safety program offered by our District. Students will learn how to ride the bus safely and to evacuate the bus safely in an emergency.
Tonight, students are bringing home a slip for our first Terrific Tuesday movie happening on October 24th. If your child would like to participate, please make sure your permission slips and $5.00 is returned by October 20th.
Families who have not yet paid their student fees will also be receiving a reminder slip tonight.  Teachers have purchased supplies for your children so please send in your fee A.S.A.P. Please contact the school if you would like to set up a payment plan.
Finally, our PSSC meets tonight at 6:30pm. Tonight, we will be discussing the Province’s 10 year education plan, the Priority Delivery Unit, and the new provincial report card.
That’s all for today! Have a wonderful evening!

Hi everyone!

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary School with your Tuesday talk mail.
Hot lunch started last week and Friday was hamburger day. Imagine everyone’s surprise when the bags were opened and we had been sent waffles instead of hamburgers! Although the children enjoyed them, they were not what we ordered. Mama George’s has apologized for the mix up and will be providing an extra hamburger day, free of charge, to all those who had ordered on Monday, October 30. Fingers crossed, hamburgers will be delivered this Friday.
Thanks to all of you who sent money in for the Terry Fox Walk. We collected $163.00 which will be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Our October newsletter and calendar will be sent home on Thursday. Please read to see all of the events scheduled for October.
Next week, October 10-13th, is kindergarten registration week. If you have a child who will be turning 5 and starting school next year, please come to our school between 7:45-3:15pm to register.
That’s it for today. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary with your Tuesday talk mail.
Thank you so much for participating in Saturday’s Random Act of Kindness challenge. Your response was overwhelming and I have enjoyed reading the lovely ways the children showed their kindness. Thank you for encouraging this. I will be sharing some of the acts of kindness on the announcements over the next few weeks and will also be sending them to be shared with Becca and her family.
I also want to thank our library volunteers for their acts of kindness. Thanks to them, all students will start visiting our school library this week.
Yesterday, milk and hot lunch forms were sent home and are due on Thursday. We are sorry but late orders cannot be accepted.
A reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday, is a half day for students as all staff will be participating in Professional Development. We will be dismissing students at 11:00am.
Friday is picture day!
Finally, a message from our Home and School: Thanks to all of you who are participating in the Home and School Norcard Fall Fundraiser. Cheques for this fundraiser should be made out to DATL Home and School.
Our first Home and School meeting is being held on Thursday, September 28th at 6:30. Parents wishing to get involved in home and school or learn more about it are welcome to attend. We will be electing our executives at this meeting.
That’s it for today. Thanks for listening. Enjoy your evening!

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary with your Tuesday talk mail. We are in enjoying our second week of school and students are settling in beautifully!

For the month of September and October, we are focusing on the Being Safe component of our Code of Conduct. We will be practicing our first fire evacuation on Thursday morning (weather permitting). Our school lockdown will be practiced the last week of September.
Another component of our Code of Conduct is to Be Kind. We model and encourage this every day of the year. Rebecca Schofield is a 2017 Riverview High School graduate who is battling brain cancer.  As part of her bucket list, she had the dream to make the world a better place through acts of kindness as a part of her #BeccaToldMeTo campaign. Schools from all around New Brunswick have been challenged by Riverview High School to set a goal of one random act of kindness per student as part of Becca Schofield Day on September 16th.   We at Dr. A.T. Leatherbarrow would like to accept this challenge and send it out to all families in our school to commit at least one random act of kindness on Saturday, September 16th. We are sending home a letter to tell you more about this challenge and how you may participate.
Hot lunch and milk order forms will be sent home next Monday, September 18th and will be due back next Thursday, September 21. Milk and hot lunch will begin the week of September 25th. We will offer Angelos pizza on Wednesdays and Mama George’s hamburgers on Fridays.
Home and School’s Fall Fundraiser has begun! Norcard catalogues were sent home with your child. As with all fundraisers, there is no obligation to purchase or participate. If you would like to support the fundraiser, please have all orders in by September 29th. Home and School has set up online ordering so students may sell to interested friends or relatives who may live outside of Hampton.
A reminder that next Wednesday, September 20th, is a half day for students as staff will participate in Professional Learning regarding the new elementary provincial report card that students will be receiving in November.
Finally, next Friday September 22 is Picture Day! I thought I would give you plenty of notice as you may want to wash that favourite outfit for that day! We have sent home a right to information form for you to check with whom we can share information. One of the places we have asked for your permission is with Harvey Studios. It is important that you give us this permission and send the form back before picture day if you wish your child to have school photos taken. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at the school.
That’s it for today. Thanks for listening. Enjoy your evening!

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary with your first Tuesday talk mail of the new school year. I hope that you enjoyed a wonderful summer with your family and are excited to begin a new school year!

Class lists will be posted on the front windows of the school next Wednesday, August 30th at 4:00pm. Our Meet the Teacher/Back to School Corn boil will be held that evening from 5:30-6:30pm. The evening will be divided into 2 sections. At 5:30pm, teachers will begin presentations in each class about curricular expectations, classroom routines, homework, and the new provincial report card. It is important that you are in the classroom on time as you will not want to miss the opportunity to hear important information and to ask questions. This presentation will last approximately until 6:00pm. This portion of the evening is a great opportunity to meet your child’s classroom teacher and specialist teachers, and to see their classroom. It is also a good time to bring your child’s $60.00 school fee, their indoor shoes, change of clothing, etc. and to provide us with childcare, bussing and medical information that we should have the very first day of school.
After the formal presentation in the classrooms, families can go outside to enjoy some corn, see friends and play on the playground. At 6:30pm, I will meet briefly in the gym with any new parents who wish to learn more about or join our PSSC. Our corn boil is being done by our Home and School and I know they will also be looking for new members!
We are really looking forward to seeing you and your children next Wednesday night!

Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine calling with your Tuesday talk mail.
A huge thank you for coming out to support Art from the Heart. It was a very special evening! We did find a key in the playground that night. It looks like it may be for a ride on mower. If you think it is your key, please call the school.
Your final newsletter of the year came home yesterday. Please take a moment to look it over to see what is happening in June.
Our PSSC meets tonight at 6:30pm.
Swimming starts on Thursday. Please check your child’s homework to see when they are scheduled to swim. We walk to the pool and swim, even in the pouring rain, so please dress your child appropriately.
Home and School meets Thursday evening at 6:30pm.
For all volunteers who have confirmed their attendance to our volunteer tea, a reminder that it is this Friday.
Finally, if your child is interested in Hampton's very first Splash & Dash race being held this Saturday, June 10 at the pool, please visit Mrs. Brenton's website and look under the Multi-sport Clinic tab.  Registration information is there.
That’s it for today. Thanks for listening.
