Grade 7 Heritage Fair

Hello grade 7 parents,

Your student is currently working on a research project of their choice for our annual Heritage Fair. They have already chosen their topics and been given time in class to begin their research and planning their papers. Hopefully you all had a chance to look at the package sent home in the Friday Files, but if not you can find that information at the bottom of this page.

All projects must contain three components:

1) A five paragraph (minimum) research-based paper explaining who/what their topic is and its importance to Canadian history. The first draft of their paper is to be handed in to me by Monday, March 9th.

A copy of the graphic organizer used to help them write their paper can be found here: 5 paragraph essay organizer.docx5 paragraph essay organizer.docx

2) A presentation to present to the class. I will accept a Powerpoint, bristol or posterboard, or Tri-fold. Their presentation should contain all the important information outlined in their paper. Students should complete this aspect of the project mostly at home, but if you need assistance with materials please let me know. All presentations should be ready to be presented by Wednesday, March 26th.

3) A creative element to accompany the presentation. The format is up to the student but some ideas might include: a slideshow of historical photos relevant to the person or event, an artistic piece such as a painting or sculpture, a model, a skit or video, or a song written to tell the story of their topic. Students will be required to submit their idea for their creative element to me by Monday, March 16th at the latest. They will be given time to work in class on this portion of the project - and please let me know if you need assistance with materials.

In-class presentations will begin on Wednesday, March 26th. Students who wish to participate in the Heritage Fair here at Bliss Carmen may do so as long as their project meets the listed requirements. You can find these and more information here: Heritage info 2019-2020.docxHeritage info 2019-2020.docx

The BCMS Heritage Fair will take place on Tuesday, April 7th.
