LHHS Update and Documents September 8, 2020

Good Evening from Leo Hayes High School

We want to take a moment to thank all of our new grade 9 students for a fantastic first day. On behalf of the staff I want to say how impressed we were with how our students fell into the "new" routine of school after being away for so long.

As a school we look forward to meeting our M-Z grade 9s tomorrow and our 10s, 11s and 12s on Thursday and Friday.

For those parents who receive this message via email there are a number of documents and links attached. For those who do not this message and links and documents are now uploaded to the LHHS website.

We ask that you take a minute and review the Family Q&A document produced by the the school district.  There is very important information that all parents and students must be aware of in this school year; specifically on when to come to school and when to stay home when not feeling well.

I would ask that as you prepare to send your children to school that you discuss the following:

1. Masks are absolutely required in all the common areas of the buildings.  This is new and a change but one that must be adhered to.
2. Students need to maintain 2m separation in the common areas of the building. This means that students cannot walk shoulder to shoulder with friends in the hallways, congregate in hallways or around tables.  We must ask that students adapt to this new normal and for your support in talking to your children.
3. Please note that there has been a document released today from the Department of Education to advise schools that community masks cannot be knitted or any other style of scarf or sport neck "buffs".  These are not acceptable.
4. Students must follow directional arrows and stay to the right.

There will be challenges as we being the process of attending school during this pandemic.  Our school operational plan does have detailed information on how our school will keep our school community safe.

The following list are documents and/or links to more information for you.

1.    A family/student checklist for parents and guardians to use each day prior to sending their child(ren) off to school.

3.    A link from the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development COVID-19 information site, which includes the “Return to School” documents is also a very important link to keep handy as it provides many updates:
