Hello! Today is Monday, June 6th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.
 
We had an awesome day today at RVMS with a visit from our incoming Gr. 5 students and also a concert from HVHS Combined Band. It is wonderful to see so many past, present and future Raiders in the building!
 
Gr. 8 Cabaret tickets are on sale now in the office for $5 each and should be purchased by this Friday, June 10th. Every person who attends the meal and video portion of the evening needs a ticket. Each Gr. 8 student may purchase 4 tickets, one for themselves and 3 for guests. Students who need more than 4 will have to let Mrs. Colwell know and your name will be placed on a waiting list. We need to ensure that all Gr. 8 students get a chance to purchase tickets and then, if there are any left over, we can sell more to those who need them. Only RVMS Gr. 8 students, or guests who have been signed in from other middle schools and have a ticket, are welcome to stay for the dance portion.
 
FYI for new Raider families, “Cabaret” is the term we use for our Gr. 8 closing event. Students come with their families to share a meal and watch the Gr. 8 video. Families then leave and the students enjoy their final “dance” at RVMS. Students often dress up for this event but that is not necessary. Most students wear a nice dress or a shirt and tie. Some students come as a couple but more often just with a group of friends.
 
Families are once again reminded, as we have been reminding students, that assignments need to be completed in order for students to participate in extra-curricular and year-end activities. Unfortunately we do have several students who are not currently meeting this criteria. Please check with your child to see if they have any outstanding assignments, projects, test to get signed etc.
 
There is a new EECD policy regarding student passwords and we will be resetting passwords for all students here at the school on Thursday, June 9th. If you think your child may forget their password over the summer, I would suggest you write it down for them on Thursday evening and keep it somewhere for them to access in September.
 
We are currently working to update our School Supply Lists for 2016-2017 and those will be posted on the website all summer at rvms.nbed.nb.ca
 
The Awards ceremony, which is our closing activity for all Grades is scheduled for 9:30 on Thursday, June 23rd. Report Cards will go home on Friday, June 24th and ASD-S has announced that dismissal will be at noon on the last day.
