Weekly Messages, September 19th, 2016

Hello! Today is Monday, September 19th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few quick messages for Raiders and their families.
I want to remind all Raiders that we encourage you, with parent permission, to walk, bike, scoot or board to school in the morning. Physical activity before school is a great way to activate your brain. We have a bike rack and a place for boards and scooters in the building. Locks are recommended if using the bike rack and of course all of these modes of transportation require that you wear a helmet!
Many of you may have noticed signs in the building asking all visitors to sign in at the office. This includes parents and is part of our safety plan. Parents do not have access to the second floor of the building unless they have signed in and have a pre-scheduled meeting with teachers. If your child has forgotten something, or needs to go upstairs to drop things off in the morning, we ask you to remain on the ground floor by the office and wait for them. If it is after hours, you may be given permission to go upstairs but you must still check in at the office.
Friday is a busy day at RVMS. It is picture day in the morning and we have our annual School Terry Fox Walk scheduled for Raider Time after lunch. If you can donate $1 to The Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research, it would be much appreciated. Bring your Loonie in to your Homeroom Teacher Thursday or Friday.
Finally, I have attached a poster for a Parent Information session that is being sponsored by the PSSC of the 4 local High Schools. The theme is mental health and all parents are invited to attend this information session.
As always, you can contact me at trudy.mcgrath@nbed.nb.ca or at 738-6511.
That is all for today. Thank you and have a great evening!
