Hello! Today is Monday, September 26th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with the weekly messages for Raiders and their families.
Today we held our annual Terry Fox Walk. We are hoping to collect a Loonie from every Raider to donate to this cause. We had a beautiful day to walk all 320 students around the track for some fresh air and exercise in support of Cancer Research. If you would like to donate to this cause, homeroom teachers will be collecting money until Wednesday and then we will forward our school’s donation to the Terry Fox Foundation.
We would like to remind students to use the crosswalks and to be very, very careful when crossing streets, especially River Valley Drive. You may see the car but that doesn’t guarantee that the driver sees you. We have had two close calls this month and ask all of our Raider families to review this important safety guideline with their children.
As well, we want to remind families that ASD-S is a scent free and nut free environment. Please do not allow your child to wear scented products such as colognes, body sprays, perfumes or other strongly scented products to school. Students may be asked to change or to return home to shower and change if wearing scented products. This is a provincial policy in place to support staff and students with extreme sensitivity and allergic response to scent. We have several people in our building with severe allergies to these items. Again, we thank you for your support of this policy.
We are currently having some internet and computer issues which prevent me from sending home some important parent information today. I will be sending it along an update next week. In the meantime, please go to rvms.nbed.nb.ca and review our “Parent Lockdown Information” document under the General Information tab. This document gives you some important information about what to do in an emergency event here at the school. We also review this information each year with staff and students.
Picture proofs went home on Friday and orders are due by this Friday, September 30th. Retakes are scheduled for Wednesday, October 12th but you must return the original proof to get a retake. If you were absent on Picture Day, you will have your picture taken on October 12th.
