Hello! Today is Monday, November 28th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.
I would like to begin by thanking the many families who took the time to make contact with their child’s teachers last week. Whether you attended Parent/Teacher meetings here at the school or spoke with teachers by phone or e-mail, your support is a crucial component in your child’s success at school. Thank you!
The school district would like me to remind all families that there is an inclement weather policy for the closure or early dismissal of schools during severe weather. I have attached the policy here and it is also on our website. If you are looking for up to date information about possible school closures due to weather events, please call 1-855-535-7669.
We had a wonderful presentation today here at school. All of our students were in the Theatre to attend a talk about diversity and providing safe spaces in our schools for all students. The presentation, by a Pride in Education representative, was sponsored by our school GSA group.
Pride in Education is a volunteer provincial committee of teachers concerned about the well-being and safety of sexual and gender minority students in New Brunswick. Statistics show that LGBQT youth are much more likely to feel bullied and unsafe in school.
This program simply asks teachers and students to be more supportive of providing a safe, accepting and kind environment for all students. We encourage families to continue this conversation at home. The website for more information is www.pienb.com
A few other quick items:
1. Our Me to We group is headed to Halifax to participate in We Day Atlantic on Wednesday.
2. Our Purple Pioneer Team (Mr. Logan, Mrs. Theriault, Mme Walsh & Mme Taylor) are headed to Fredericton on Thursday on a co-curricular Social Studies trip to visit the NB Legislature.
3. Clothing orders are coming in and are due at the office no later than Wednesday, November 30th. A copy of the order is attached and you can call McCluskey Brothers at 738-1985 for more information.
