Hello! Today is Wednesday, April 26th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.
With less than 40 student days remaining in the school year, we want to stress the importance of regular attendance at school as required under the Education Act. Attendance does matter and is a crucial component of student success and we appreciate your efforts to ensure that your child is at school every day, on time and ready to work!
With the warmer weather approaching (I keep saying that and it keeps not happening!), I want to remind families that we do have a dress code at the school for staff and students. Please remind your child about this code, which can be found on our website and in the student agendas. In particular, flip flop type shoes are very problematic at school and result in many, many injuries. Sandals with straps and sturdy soles are welcome but the plastic flip flops should not be worn.
One of the reasons there are only 40 student days left in our school year is because we have several non-student days in our schedule. This Friday, April 28th is a scheduled PD day and next week, Thursday, May 4th and Friday May 5th are also PD Days. There is no school for students on those dates.
I have attached a flyer to the e-mail version of this message. The local High School are sponsoring another parent information session. This session is about Youth Anxiety and is scheduled for Thursday, May 4th from 6:30-8:00 pm at Harbour View. The speaker, Dr. Daniel Chorley, is a Clinical Psychologist from the IWK in Halifax who has extensive experience in this area. This is a free event open to all interested parents in our school district.
