Hello! Today is Monday, November 20th and it is Report Card day at River Valley Middle School.
Your child should have their Report Card with them when they arrive home today. I know you have heard me say this before, but this is a brand new Report Card format. The last page of the Report Card will give you an explanation and I have also attached a copy of the language we are using with students and parents to explain the new 1-4 grading scale.
Please sign and return only the page with parent signature.
Remember, it is extremely unlikely that any student will receive a mark of 4 on the first Report Card as that means students have surpassed grade level expectations. A mark of three indicates your child is exactly where they should be. A mark of 2 means they are progressing nicely but may still need to work on a few areas (teacher can identify those areas for you). If you see a mark of 1, you should be concerned and should plan to attend Parent/Teacher or contact your child’s teachers to discuss their progress further.
There is no school for students this Friday, November 24th as teachers are in morning meetings and then have Parent/Teacher meetings scheduled in the afternoon. Parent/Teacher also runs on Thursday evening from 5-8 pm. There are a few spots left for Parent/Teacher. If you need to make an appointment, please call the school’s mainline at 738-6500.
Mr. Vincent’s hardworking students are once again launching their pizza dough and cookie dough business. For $5 you can order 2 balls of frozen pizza dough (each will make a 12 inch pizza) or frozen chocolate chip cookie dough (enough to make 3 dozen cookies). Orders can be placed by your child in the morning in the Tech Lab and picked up there at the end of the day. All profits go into the school account to support student activities at RVMS.
During Parent/Teacher evenings McCluskey Brothers will be selling school clothing outside the cafeteria. Items will also be available for students for viewing and sizing on Wednesday and Thursday during lunch time. I do not have a price list from McCluskey Brothers at this time but I will forward it to you when it arrives. The Grade 8 hoodies with the 2018 logo will not be available until February.
That is all for now.
As always, you can reach me at 738-6511 or at trudy.mcgrath@nbed.nb.ca.
Thank you and good evening!
