Weekly Messages, January 11th, 2016

Hello and Happy New Year! Today is Monday, January 11th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.

We started our new ASAP schedule today. This schedule runs for the next 8 weeks. I have attached a copy to the e-mail version of this message and it is posted on our school website (rvms.nbed.nb.ca) as well.

We are headed into a busy time of year. Many students will be involved in Science Fair Projects and Heritage Fair Projects during the next 8 weeks. Basketball, Ski Club, and Drama are all moving into high gear as well as our Brilliant Labs Project and Me to We.

We encourage all of our Raiders to work hard. Remember, it is better to try and fail than to do nothing. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes….that is how we learn!!

Teachers have been reviewing our behaviour expectations and rules and procedures with students. We ask that all families also take a few moments to review this information which can be found in the front of your child’s agenda.

Gr. 8 students will be attending High School Open House week and registering for High School in the next few weeks. We will be sending home lots of information and reminders and ask all Gr. 8 families to make sure that we have your correct contact information. Mailing info is particularly important as ASD-S will be mailing High School letters directly to your home address. If you think you need to update the information or want to check that we have the correct information, please contact us at the school or have your child pop down to the office to check with us directly.

Finally, if your child struggled on the November Report Card and has been having any difficulties with academics, you may be receiving progress reports this week. These only go home if we are concerned about your child’s progress and feel we need to continue to intervene with extra help and support. If you have any questions about this form when it comes home to you, please feel free to contact your child’s homeroom teacher. You may certainly call at any time, even if your child does not bring home a mid-term progress report.

That is all for this week. As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at trudy.mcgrath@nbed.nb.ca or, on my direct line, at 738-6511.

Thank you and good evening.
