NBTAP Deadline - Jan 19th

The New Brunswick Teen Apprentice Program (NBTAP) is recruiting Grade 10 and 11 students for Summer 2018 skilled trade pre-apprentice work opportunities with employers throughout New Brunswick. Applications will be accepted from November 20 to January 19th.

Exam Schedule & Rules - January 2018

The following is the Exam Schedule for January 2018:

Monday, Jan. 22nd          9:00am    – Period 2 All Grades

                                     1:00pm    – Period 3 All Grades


Tuesday, Jan. 23rd          9:00am    – Period 4 All Grades

                                     1:00pm    – Grade 11 & 12: ELPA/R - Reading


Wednesday, Jan. 24th       9:00am    – Period 5 All Grades

                                      1:00pm    – Extra Time ELPA/R


Thursday, Jan. 25th         9:00am    – Period 6 All Grades


Friday, Jan. 26th             9:00am    – Weather Day / Make-up Day

*Students write exams in their subject classrooms.

**If school is cancelled the exam schedule advances to the next day.

*** There will be no school for students on January 29th and 30th.  Second semester begins on Wednesday, January 31st.  Students are to report to their Period 1 homeroom at 9:00am.


Rules for Exams:

On Monday, January 22nd we begin exams for students in grades 9 through 12.  All exams begin at 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM.  Grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 students write in their subject classroom.

All exams are one hour or two hours long.  Students writing a one hour exam must stay the full hour.  Students writing a two hour exam must stay 1 ½ hrs.  After 1 ½ hours, they may leave when they finish the exam.  There are to be absolutely no cell phones, MP3’S or electronic devices in classrooms or corridors during exams.

School buses will operate at the usual time.  Students are encouraged to arrange transportation so that they do not have to wait several hours for bus transportation home.

If a student misses an exam due to illness, the student must get a medical excuse from a doctor.  If this is not done, the student will lose the value of the exam.

Grad Class Clothing

Grad Class Clothing will be on sale from January 8th until January 19th.  The cost is as follows:

Long sleeve performance shirts - $20
Grey Cotton Hoodie - $30                       
Grey Performance Hoodie - $35
Sweatpants with pockets - $40

Clothing can be ordered at lunch in 2nd Floor C building and will be sold until January 19th.

Student of the Week

Congratulations to Sophie Watson who was selected as Simonds High School student of the week for the week of December 18th – 22nd, 2017.  Sophie has been an honour student since she arrived at Simonds four years ago.  She has been involved in the Swim Team, Romeo House Drives and Got Your Back since grade 9.  Just recently she volunteered with the Provincial Debate Team as a monitor and speaker.  She exhibits grace and poise at all times.  She makes sure all students are welcomed in her classes.  We are very happy to have Sophie as a Simonds Seabee.  Simonds Pride Continues with Sophie Watson…

Student of the Week

Congratulations to Charlie Theriault who was selected as Simonds High School student of the week for the week of December 11th – 15th, 2017.  Charlie is a hardworking and friendly Grade 9 student who is well known through the halls of Simonds.  Everyone who meets Charlie is impressed with his friendliness and strong character.  He is currently assisting the basketball team as a manager and demonstrates school pride on a daily basis.  We are very happy to have Charlie as a Simonds Seabee.   Simonds Pride Continues with Charlie Theriault…

East West Game - December 11th

​The annual East West Basketball Game will take place on Monday, December 11th at Simonds High School.  The Girls game will start at 6:00PM and the Boys game will start at 8:00PM.  Admission is $5 at the door, hope to see you there!!!

The Simonds Seabee special costs $7 and includes admission to both games, pizza after school and a pair of Thunder Sticks!!!  Go Seabees!!!!!

​Congratulations to Nick Yorke who was selected as Simonds High School student of the week for the week of December 4th – 8th, 2017.  Nick is a wonderful Simonds High student.  He has honour marks plus an impressive attendance record.  He takes pride in his work and diligently completes all assignments while assisting other students.  Nick’s talents extend beyond the classroom as he was recently promoted in cadets.  Simonds Pride Continues with Nick Yorke…

Musical Auditions

​Auditions for the 2018 Spring Musical will take place next week.

  • Tuesday, November 28th last names A-I
  • Wednesday, November 29th last names J-N
  • Friday, December 1st last names O-Z

All auditions are in the theatre at lunch.  Audition material will be supplied.  Anyone wishing to have a singing role must prepare to sing a short excerpt from two songs of their choosing.

Student of the Week
​Congratulations to Mariah McLeod who was selected as Simonds High School Student of the Week for the week of November 13th – 17th, 2017.  Mariah was a very shy student when she entered Simonds. Since then she has been a member of the field hockey team for three years; the Rugby team last year, and plans on playing again this year.  She is a very active member and fundraiser for TADD and supports school events such as our annual Christmas Cabaret.  Mariah has good attendance, is well like by her classmates, and can always be seen with a smile on her face in the classroom and the hallways of Simonds High. She is an awesome Seabee! Simonds Pride Continues with Mariah McLeod….
