Student of the Week
Congratulations to Keila Nunn who was selected as Simonds High School Student of the Week for the week of June 5th to June 9th.  Keila is the type of student who takes pride in her work and strives to do her very best each and every day.  She is very hardworking, conscientious, and has excellent attendance.  Her family and studies are number one in her life, and through it all, she holds a part-time job.  We are proud to say she is a Seabee.  Keila, we expect big things from you in the future!  Simonds Pride Continues with Keila Nunn…

Simonds at Disability Awareness Week

​Disability Awareness Week (DAW) ran from May 29th to June 2nd and was topped off with the "Walk and Roll" at 12:15 pm today.  Across the province, people were encourage to gather and walk for 15 minutes to show their support and bring awareness to this year’s theme “We Need In”.  

Simonds High School showed its support by attending the" Walk and Roll" in beautiful Uptown Saint John.  We were the only school in attendance and were very proud to be there.  Students from TADD, SRC and We Got Your Back gathered to attend this event.  We are very fortunate this year to have had two pairs of siblings at SHS that walked and rolled together.  Miranda & Mykela Wortman and Mallory & Cassidy Ross lead the way as Simonds pride continues to be seen.  We are already talking about next year’s event so stay tuned.

Special thanks to Mr Keating, Ms Jamieson, all the EAs who attended,  and the bus drivers that made this event possible for all of us to attend.

Student of the Week
Congratulations to Seffon McMahon who was selected as Simonds High School Student of the Week for the week of May 22nd to May 26th.  Seffon is a talented, pleasant, and cheerful student who has an appetite for learning in many different subject areas ranging from Music to History to Literature and Science.  His conversation is always unpredictable but refreshingly interesting and intellectually challenging.  We are proud of you Seffon and glad that you are a part of Simonds.  We know that you will do well at University!  We expect big things from you in the future so keep up the great work!  Simonds Pride Continues with Seffon McMahon…

Exam Schedule & Rules

​The following is the exam schedule for June 2017:

Monday, June 12th​ @ 9:00AM   Period 2 All Grades

Monday, June 12th @ 1:00PM   Period 3 All Grades

Tuesday, June 13th @ 9:00AM   Period 4 All Grades

Wednesday, June 14th @ 9:00AM   Period 5 All Grades

Thursday, June 15th @ 9:00AM   Period 6 All Grades

Friday, June 16th @ 9:00AM  Weather Day/Make-up Day


*All Students (Grades 9 to 12) Write Exams in their "Subject" Classrooms.  If school is cancelled the exam schedule advances to the next day.

*Grade 12 Students pick up home reports on Wednesday, June 21st at 9:00AM and then stay for Graduation rehersal.

*Grade 9, 10 and 11 students pick up home reports on Thursday, June 22nd at 9:00AM.

***Summer School registration will be held in C130 with Mr. MacDonald on June 22nd***


Rules for Exams:

On Monday, June 12th, 2017, we begin exams for students in grades 9 through 12.  Grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 students write in their subject classroom.

All exams are one hour or two hours long.  Students writing a one hour exam must stay the full hour.  Students writing a two hour exam must stay 1 ½ hrs.  After 1 ½ hours, they may leave when they finish the exam.  There are to be absolutely no cell phones, MP3’S or electronic devices in classrooms or corridors during exams.

School buses will operate at the usual time.  Students are encouraged to arrange transportation so that they do not have to wait several hours for bus transportation home.

If a student misses an exam due to illness, the student must get a medical excuse from a doctor.  If this is not done, the student will lose the value of the exam.

Baccalaureate - Sunday, June 4th

All Graduates are invited to attend the 2017 Baccalaureate at Forest Hills Baptist Church.  This will take place on Sunday, June 4th at 4:00 PM at Forest Hills Baptist Church (36 Mountain Rd).  A reception will follow at 5:00 PM in the church hall.  Hope to see you there!

NB Student Financial Assistance Info - May 23rd

​There will be an evening presentation at Simonds High School for Grade 11 and 12 students and their parents regarding the New Brunswick Student Financial Assistance Program. This information session would cover the topics of student loans and the Tuition Access Bursary (the “free tuition” Program). The presentation will occur from 5 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday May 23rd in the theatre.​

We would like to recognize Derick Melanson who was selected as Simonds High School Student of the Week for the week of May 8th-May 12th.  Derick is a hard working student who always puts his best effort into his classwork.  He is always polite and treats everyone with respect.  Derick is currently a high honours student and has awesome attendance! Congratulations to Mr. Peter Woytiuk on receiving a ‘Recognition Award’ from Brillant Labs at the Innovation in Education Awards Gala last night in Fredericton.

Spring Clean-up Pictures

On Tuesday, May 9th the students at Simonds participated in the spring clean - up.  It went well and in total they collected 141 bags of garbage. Thanks to all of the classes that participated!
