On Thursday, classes will be walking to commemorate the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope. Terry Fox was an athlete and activist from B.C. and began his Marathon of Hope in St. John’s, April 12, 1980. He had a fundraising goal of $1 from each Canadian ($24M at the time) to further cancer research. Terry ran close to 5400 km in 143 days before losing his battle with cancer and we are issuing a challenge to the classes to surpass that distance, not in physical distance covered, but in donations made. Donations for the QMS Terry Fox Walk may be brought to your homeroom in cash or purchased online through SchoolCash. Each $1 donated equals 10Km. Your class will receive 1 point for every 250 km ($25) collected and the class that travels the farthest across Canada will receive a pizza party. All donations must be received by Thurs, Sept 25th.
