Weekly Announcements, April 19, 2017

Hello! Today is Wednesday, April 19th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.

We held a “Hold & Secure” Emergency drill at the school today. This is a procedure we would use in medical emergencies or when there is a danger outside of the school. It simply requires us to make sure all exterior doors are secure and we keep students in their classrooms during the drill to limit having movement inside the building during this time. The drill went very well today but please feel free to speak with your child and pass on any questions or concerns they may have to their teacher.

Some families will be receiving attendance letters in the mail this week. You need only be concerned if you receive a letter and you are unaware of any of the absences listed. Under NB law, the Education Act requires students to be in regular attendance at school and requires Principal’s to notify parents, in writing, when irregular attendance occurs.

Our annual Drama production is scheduled to take place here at the school on Friday and public performances are on Monday & Tuesday of next week.

This year's music production is called "The Big Bad Musical".

In this show, The Big Bad Wolf is on trial! The characters of the fairy-tale world have launched a class action lawsuit against their enemy, Mr. Big B. Wolf. With Fairy Godmother as the lawyer for the plaintiffs and Evil Stepmother as counsel for the defense, this is bound to be the trial of the century! Join all your favourite fairy-tale characters as this case seeks to answer the question – was the Big Bad Wolf born a criminal, was he made one, or is he even a criminal at all?

The public performances take place in the RVMS Theatre on Monday, April 24, and Tuesday, April 25 at 7pm. Tickets are $8.00 each. They are available at the door, or in advance at the school office beginning on Thursday, April 20.

Just a few more reminders this week;

1.     Friday is “We Are Silent” Day and students may purchase tickets outside the cafeteria for $3 if they would like to participate.
2.     Friday is “Hat Friday” here at RVMS and students may wear any hat of their choosing for the day…but hats only, no makeup, costumes, etc.
3.     We encourage our students to walk, bike or board to school during the warmer months but we are very strict about helmets for bikers or boarders. Students who disregard this expectation could face loss of this privilege. Please support us in encouraging our students to be safe and to obey the law!

That is all for today. As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I can be reached at trudy.mcgrath@nbed.nb.ca or at 738-6511 and these messages can also be found on our website at rvms.nbed.nb.ca.

Thank you and good evening!
