Hello! Today is Thursday, December 7th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with the weekly messages for Raiders and their families.
Tomorrow, Friday, December 8th is Plaid Friday here at River Valley. This tradition, begun by recently retired teacher, Dave Logan, reminds all of us that we are a community here at RVMS. The multitude of colours and patterns represented in our Plaid shirts symbolizes that we are all unique but all Raiders. Please put on your plaid tomorrow morning!
We are happy to announce that Chef Frank is preparing our 4th Annual Turkey Luncheon for students and staff to be served on Wednesday, December 20th. Tickets may be purchased from Homeroom teachers. The cost is $10 with $1 from each lunch going to support struggling families in our community. Chef does a beautiful job and the lunch includes freshly prepared roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, mixed vegetables, a freshly baked roll, apple juice and a candy cane cheesecake dessert and of course, all taxes are included. Tickets must be purchased no later than next Thursday, December 14th.
Our next school dance is scheduled for next Thursday, December 14th from 6-8 pm. Cost is $5 and Frank will have a canteen available with snacks and refreshments available for purchase. Indoor shoes are required.
Looking ahead at our calendar, I do want to mention a few important dates:
The entire school will be headed to the Imperial Theatre on Monday, December 18th to attend the Theatre New Brunswick production of “A Christmas Carol”. We will have an altered lunch schedule that day as we will likely return to RVMS a little later than our regular lunch time. All costs for this event are covered as part of the student fee paid by each student in September.
 Dismissal for Christmas Break is at 11:30 on Friday, December 22nd. We will follow the regular bus dismissal procedure we have been using on our half day/PD days.
All students and staff return from the break on Monday, January 8th. This is a change from the past few years when students have not returned until Tuesday….this year they are back on Monday so please make a note of that change in your calendar.
