Hello! This is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.
We have a school dance scheduled for this week. Thursday evening form 6-8 pm. Cost is $5 and Chef Frank will have a canteen available with refreshments and treats for purchase. Indoor shoes are required and must be brought to the dance with each student as there is no access to the locker area during school dances. I will also be reminding students that they cannot bring liquids or snacks of their own to the dance and we do search book bags as they enter. I am sure families appreciate why we have this process in place although we haven’t had any issues for many years.
Tickets are currently on sale for Chef Frank’s 4th Annual Turkey Luncheon. This is scheduled for next Wednesday, December 20th. Tickets may be purchased from Homeroom teachers until the end of the day on Thursday, December 14th. This is a delicious dinner consisting of freshly roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables and a roll with apple juice and a seasonal dessert. The cost is $10 and this includes HST and a $1 donation from each meal to support families in our community.
Next Monday, December 18th the entire school is headed to the Imperial Theatre for the morning to attend a production of “A Christmas Carol” by Theatre New Brunswick. All costs are being covered by the school.
In the afternoon on Monday, December 18th we will run a “Wellness Afternoon” for all students in the building. Wellness activities are a district-wide initiative to encourage positive mental health and fitness in our students.
We have scheduled theme days for the last week of school:
Dec 18             Christmas Socks & Sweaters Day
Dec 19             Favorite Sport Team  Day
Dec 20             Chef Frank’s 4th Annual Holiday Luncheon (new item)
Dec 20             Santa & Elf Hats & Reindeer Antlers
Dec 21             Pajama Day
Dec 22             Raider Colours Day
Dec 22             Noon Dismissal for students
 
The last day, Friday, December 22nd is a half-day with dismissal at 11:30 and buses following our usual half-day procedure. Students return on Monday, January 8th.
