Hello! This is Ms. McGrath calling with the last message of 2017!
Tomorrow, Friday, December 22nd is a half day and all students will be dismissed or sent home on school buses between 11:30 and 12:00 (our usual half-day dismissal plan). Students and staff are scheduled to return to school on Monday, January 8th. This is a change from previous years so please note that the first Monday after New Year’s is the first day of school for 2018.
Tomorrow is also school colours day at RVMS so put on your Red & Black!
We will be reminding students to clean out their lockers before they leave for the break and remember to take home anything they need for the next two weeks…boots, coats, etc. as there will be no access to the building over the break.
We do have a few staff changes in place for January 2018. Mr. Tomilson and Mme. Sullivan are both on leave from January-June. We wish them all the best with their plans for travel and educational activities during this time. Ms. Walsh, currently one of our Gr. 8 teachers, will be taking over the Guidance role at RVMS while Mme. Sullivan is on leave. That means we will welcome two new Gr. 8 teachers; Ms. Maribel Ramos and Mr. Nick Learmouth are joining us to teach in the Gr. 8 classrooms beginning in January. I will add their contact information to our website for parents and families to contact them if necessary.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Raider Families for your continued support throughout 2017. I hope all of you are able to enjoy time with each other over the next two weeks. For those of you who celebrate Christmas, I wish you a Merry Christmas and on behalf of all Raiders we hope for a Happy Holiday season for all!
