Hello! Today is Monday, January 22nd and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few reminders for Raiders and their families.
As I mentioned last week, many families will be receiving Attendance letters for their child. This letter goes out once a child has reached 10 days or more absent, with or without excuse. Daily attendance calls are also sent by our automated system any time a student is absent for one or more classes. You will receive this call even if you have sent a note as the system is automated. You only need to contact us if you get a call and you expected that your child was at school that day.
We are struggling with a few incidents with students using cellphones inappropriately or during class time. We have reminded students that they should not have their phones on at all during class time unless they have the permission of their teacher.
We would also ask families not to call or text their child during the school day and expect an immediate response. Students can return calls or texts at lunch and during ASAP only. If you need to contact them immediately, please call the school office as it is not reasonable to expect them to respond to you during class time.
High School Registration and Open House events will happen for our Gr. 8 students in the next few weeks. Gr. 8 families can expect several messages about this procedure which usually takes place between February 15thand February 28th. We will send details as soon as we have them from the District.
This weekend, January 26 & 27, is the 19th Annual Hoops Classic Basketball Tournament at RVMS. A schedule of games is attached. All students will have the opportunity to attend one game on Friday during school hours and we encourage any interested families to please come out to cheer on our Raider team. The funds raised from this tournament go directly back to the student basketball program at RVMS.
Our PSSC meeting takes place here at the school this evening. Contact information for PSSC members can be found on our website. This committee represents all families at RVMS and meets regularly with our Admin team throughout the school year.
