Parent Info Letter - 2017-2018.docxParent Info Letter - 2017-2018.docx

Hello! Today is Tuesday, February 13th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.
Gr. 8 students are reminded that tomorrow, Wednesday, February 14th, is the deadline for your High School Registration form to be handed in at the school. These forms will be delivered to the District office in Millidgeville early Thursday morning. Any forms that are not handed in on time will have to be sent or delivered to the District office directly by your family.
We have a Lockdown Drill scheduled for next week here at the school. Please review the attached information sheet for parents. This sheet is also always available on our website at rvms.nbed.nb.ca. In the event of a true emergency situation parents should not call or come to the school. All parents will be directed to St. Matthew’s Church which will be set up as a communication center. Next week is simply a practice situation and we will be reviewing the procedures with students before the drill and you may want to review this with your child as well.
Next Monday, February 19th is Family Day in New Brunswick and there is no school on that day.
This Friday, February 16th is Team Colours Day. We hope to see lots of Blue Explorers, Purple Pioneers and Green Adventurers in the building that day.
Finally, as this week is School Staff Appreciation Week, I would like to thank all of the wonderful staff here at RVMS. Our Custodians, Educational Assistants, Administrative Assistant, Teachers and Bus Drivers are all part of our Raider Family.
I also wanted to say “thank you” for all of the volunteer hours my staff put in that are above and beyond their job descriptions. We are able to offer so many wonderful “extras” to our students at River Valley. Most of this happens because our teachers only take a 20 minute lunch each day and then volunteer the remainder of the minutes that would have been their lunch time, to run the many ASAP activities for our students. Of course we also volunteer time for trips, sports and clubs outside of even our extended ASAP hours. This adds up to thousands of volunteer hours each year from our staff. I am very proud to work with such a dedicated group of individuals.
That is all for this week. As always, please feel free to contact me at trudy.mcgrath@nbed.nb.ca or on my direct line at 738-6511.
Thank you and good evening!
