Hello! Today is Wednesday, May 2nd and this is Ms. McGrath calling with the weekly announcements for Raiders and their families.
As the flood waters continue to rise in our community, we continue to struggle with bus routes and we are being told that this will continue until early next week. Please monitor the situation closely even if your home is not affected as the bus route used to get to your home may be affected.
We also realize that this flood event will affect many of our Raider families. If your child is absent as a result of this emergency situation this absence will not count towards their yearly attendance. Please let us know if this is the case or if there is anything else we can do to help your child in this situation.
As I mentioned last week, this Friday, May 4th and next Monday, May 7th are the annual spring PD Days for teachers and there is no school for students on either of those dates.
I have had to speak with several students about dress code this week. Specifically we seem to have several gentlemen who are following a fashion trend of wearing their pants very low with their underwear hanging out. This is not acceptable dress for school and we will give reminders but will send repeat offenders home to change into acceptable clothing.
All Gr. 8 students should have received their placement letters for High School as they were mailed out from the District Office early last week. If you have not received a letter please contact ASD-S and ask to speak with Jennifer Pierces (658-5300).
RVMS also sent out many attendance letters this week for any students who have reached 10 days absence in total. Some families who may have already received the 10 day letter will also be receiving a new letter if absences have continued to add up since the first letter you received earlier in the year.
