Hello! Today is Monday, October 27th, 2014 and this is Ms. McGrath calling Raiders and their families with the weekly announcements.
 
We have our annual Halloween Dance scheduled for this Thursday evening from 6-8 pm. The cost is $5 and a canteen will also be available. Students are encouraged to wear costumes and must bring with them a pair of indoor shoes. They will not have access to their lockers so they cannot go upstairs to get shoes but must bring shoes with them to the dance.
 
We allow full costumes and make-up that is applied at home but do not allow masks or imitation weapons.
 
Friday is Halloween. We do not allow costumes during class time on this day. As well, we ask parents to consider that we have a strict Nutrition policy in the District. You may certainly send in food items for your child but we ask that you do not send in cookies, cakes or candies to be shared with other students. Nutritious snacks, fruits and vegetables and fruit juices are allowed.
 
We also want to remind families that our Raider Window Clings are still for sale in the office at a cost of $5 each and are the only fundraiser we have during the year to support our student events and activities.
 
I have reminded students several times that the colder weather is coming. From November 1 to March 31 each year, we do not allow students to participate in outdoor activities during lunch, class or ASAP unless they have on a second layer of clothing, preferably a coat but at least a heavy hoodie or jacket. This is also very, very important as many students are outside for some time in the morning during arrival times.
 
Please mark your calendar as we have a few events coming up next month. There is no school on Tuesday, November 11th as this is, of course, Remembrance Day. As well there is no school for students on Friday, November 14th as this is a PD and Parent/Teacher Day.
 
Report cards will be going home on Friday, November 7th and Parent Teacher meetings are scheduled for the evening of Thursday, November 13th from 5-8 pm and the afternoon of Friday, November 14th from 1-3 pm. Appointments can be made by contacting the
school office beginning on Friday, November 7th.
 
We also would like to ask students to consider wearing red to school for the next two Fridays (October 31, and November 7) to show your national pride and support for the Canadian Military leading up to Remembrance Day.
