October 26
Weekly Messages, October 26th, 2015

Hello! Today is Monday, October 26th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few announcements for Raiders and their families.
First I want to pass along thanks and compliments from the Public Health Nurses who were in our school last week. As always our students were polite and welcoming even in the midst of their stress about getting needles. Great job Raiders!
Now for a few reminders:
1. The Halloween Dance is this Thursday, October 29th from 6-8 pm. The cost is $5 with $1 being donated to the We Scare Hunger campaign for local food banks. Costumes are encouraged although we do not allow masks or replica weapons of any kind. If you choose to wear makeup, this should be applied at home. Also, all students must bring, in their hands, a pair of indoor shoes. They do not have access to their lockers during the dance. If they are using their gym shoes for their dance shoes, they need to take these home with them at the end of the school day.
2. Winter is coming. From November 1 to March 30 we require students to wear a second layer, preferably a winter jacket but at the very least a heavy hoodie or sweater, when outside during the school day. Please remember that there may be times when students are required to be outside and they need to be dressed appropriately for the weather. Once inside, we ask that they remove jackets and winter or heavy boots for the school day and don indoor shoes.
3. As you know from your child’s agenda, we do allow the use of phones and electronics at certain times during the school day. We have this policy to teach and encourage acceptable use of electronics. The policy also states that “under no circumstances will students be allowed to take pictures and/or videos”. This is for the protection of student privacy. Violation of this rule may result in the loss of the privilege of using your device at school for the remainder of the year. Please review this expectation with your child.
4. We have a set of expectations for written work for students. It is attached to this e-mail and posted on our website. Teachers will not accept work that is not up to standard and the expectations include basic items like putting your name on the paper, not handing in torn or ripped assignments etc. Please take a moment to speak to your child about these expectations.
That is all for this week. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at trudy.mcgrath@nbed.nb.ca or on my direct line at 738-6511.
Thank you and good evening!
