Forest Hills School

We Build Inclusion, Capacity, and Learning Communities

June 15th, 2018

This is a message from Mrs. Savoie, principal at Forest Hills School.

It’s hard to believe that next week is our last week of school!

There are still many fun field trips planned for this week, so please make sure that your children are dressed properly and that they have lots of sunblock!

Our activity morning is planned for Thursday.  The Home & School will be providing pizza for lunch.

The grade 8 celebration will be on Thursday, the 21st at 5.  Although many students like to dress up, please don’t feel that it’s a requirement.  Just come and have some fun!  The celebration begins at 5 for the grade 8 students and their families.  The dance that follows from 6-8 will be for grade 6-8 students.

Report cards will be going home on Friday the 22nd.  We are unable to send them home before Friday, but you can come to the school the following Monday or Tuesday to pick them up from the office as well.  Please take the time to look at some important notices that will be included in the envelope.

The last day of school, June 22nd, is a ½ day for students.  We will start dismissing at 11:30.

Remember Falcons, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe!

Have a lovely weekend,

We would like to congratulate our drama club, Mr. Goguen, and staff volunteers for an amazing 3 day run of Alice @ Wonderland.  The play was hilarious and they all did a fantastic job!  We are very proud of their hard work and talent!

We are having traffic concerns in the back lot, especially during the K-2 pickup.  Please ensure that you use the drop off loop correctly.  If you need to stop and get out of your car, please park in the upper parking lot.  Let’s work together to keep our children safe!

The Grade 8 students will be hosting a bottle drive on Saturday between 8AM and 12 in the parking lot by the soccer field.  Please come by and drop off your recyclables to help support our grade 8 trip.  Thank you!

Congratulations to the Harding family for winning our grand prize of $200 at Walmart and to the Liu, Brown, Girouard and the Cummings families for winning $25 Indigo cards.  Thank you all for registering for Cashless Schools!

April 27th, 2018

This is a message from Mrs. Savoie, principal at Forest Hills School.

I would like to congratulate Mrs. Erika Brown for being appointed as the Acting Principal of FHS for the 2018-2019 school year.  We are all very excited and will let you know when the new Acting VP is announced.  Great job, Mrs. Brown!

We would like to remind students that if they are collecting for Jump Rope for Heart, that they must use the official pledge forms.  Thank you for your support.

Dress rehearsal for drama club is scheduled for 12-4 on Sunday.  Please eat some lunch before you come.  Thank you!

We are very excited that our drama production, Alice @ Wonderland will presenting on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7PM.  If you need a ticket, there are available in the office.

Under the NB Teachers Collective Agreement, all Kindergarten to Grade 8 teachers are to receive two half days each year for report card preparation.  The teachers had a half day in November dedicated to preparation of their report cards. The report cards were new to everyone and this time was appreciated.  On March 15 the Kindergarten to grade 8 teachers were scheduled to have another half day to help with their preparation of the March 2018 Report Cards.  Unfortunately this was a storm closure day across the District.  As a result of this, we must adjust our school calendar so there is a half day dedicated for the June report card preparation at K-8.  This will happen on Wednesday, June 6, and on that day it will be an early dismissal day for all K to 8 students, at 11:30

The flags at the school and other provincial building in New Brunswick will be lowered to half-mast to mark the Day of Mourning for Persons Killed or Injured in the Workplace Saturday, April 28, 2018.

A reminder that there is no school for students next Friday, May 4th as it is Provincial Subject Council for teachers and Monday, May 7th for our Annual General Meeting.

This is a message from Mrs. Savoie, principal at Forest Hills School.

Our students did an amazing job showing with respect and support on Thursday for Humboldt Bronco Jersey Day.  We are also appreciative of the many donations that were sent in to support the families and victims of this tragic incident.  We have been able to donate $750 from the school which will be added to a group donation from several schools in the district of over $5000.  Great Job!

Saint John Soccer Club is having tryouts for their competitive AA teams on April 16th, 23rd and 30th.

U13AA (born in 2005, 2006 and 2007) from 6-7:15

U15AA (born in 2003 and 2004) from 7-8:15

The club is proud to report they will be hosting U13AA Provincials this year.  It will be an exciting season.

We are excited to start our first trial run for Hot Lunch the week of April 23 – 27.  This will be for Middle level only the first week as we work out the bugs.

Lunch orders are due by Midnight Wednesday, April 18.  If you are doing it the old way please have your money in by Wednesday morning instead of Thursday.  (please consider registering as this option will not be available next year, all you need is an email address.)  If all goes well we will open to the entire school the following week.

If you have any trouble logging into the site (ie.. double last name) please email Donna.Folkins@nbed.nb.ca.

April 9th, 2018

This is a message from Mrs. Savoie, principal at Forest Hills School.

After hearing of the tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos Hockey Team, many schools in our District and Province want to show their support.  A group of hockey moms in Langley, B.C has launched a jersey campaign encouraging everyone to wear a sports jersey in support of the victims and families affected by this tragedy on Thursday, April 12th. Forest Hills School will be participating and would encourage students and staff to wear jerseys, FHS clothing, or their favourite team’s clothing.  We will be taking a group photo to be added to an ASD-S composite being created at Sir James Dunn School in St. Andrews. We will also be accepting donations that will be forwarded to the victims and their families.  Please show your support by wearing a jersey and sending in a donation if possible.  Thank you!

We also wanted to everyone that the 2nd immunization clinic for grade 7 students is scheduled for tomorrow, April 10th. Please remind your child to wear a short sleeve shirt and eat a good breakfast. Any grade 7 student who missed the first clinic can be immunized at this clinic with a signed consent. If you need a consent form, please call public health at 658-2285.
