Host Families Needed for the NB International Student Program
Host Families Needed for the NB International Student Program
Each year, families with or without children, single parents, retirees and empty-nesters make up the hundreds of families who welcome international students in their home through the NB International Student Program.  Homestay parents are making a difference in the lives of bright, caring students wanting to learn about Canadian culture and improve their English.
Students stay for one semester or the full school year starting in September. A fixed monthly stipend is given to families to offset costs.
We would like to thank the families who have and continue to host our international students.  To find out how you can become a host parent and the support you will receive,  or if you know someone who may be interested, contact Liane Nicholson, Homestay Coordinator at lnicholson@canadahomestaynetwork.ca  or
or click here  for more information.

Cell Phones

FHS PSSC Minutes November 6 2017, reference cell phones:  At the Nov 6 PSSC meeting, there was a discussion of cell phone usage in the classroom, and a request that parents not send texts or call/facetime during class time.
Checking their phones can be difficult for students to resist. The following article “Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation?” was shared with the committee -  https://www.theatlantic.com/m agazine/archive/2017/09/has-the-smartphone-destroyed-a-generation/534198/
