If you have a child who will turn five between now and December 31, 2019, it's time to register for kindergarten.
Starting school is an important time in a child's life. To ease the transition from home or preschool, parents are encouraged to register their children for kindergarten in October of the year prior to when they begin school. This allows teachers, principals and school district staff time to organize several opportunities to meet with parents and children before school begins the following September.
Each of the elementary schools across Anglophone West School District is accepting registrations for children who will start kindergarten next September. Registration for kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year will be held from October 9-12, 2018 at your local school. You may speed up the process by registering online prior to
visiting the school. The online registration is available during the same
To register your child, visit your neighbourhood elementary school. It is not necessary to make an appointment. If you are uncertain of which school your child would attend, enter your home location into the Transportation Eligibility program.
Newcomer Kindergarten Registration in the Greater Fredericton Area
All newcomer children who were not born in Canada, or who were born in Canada, but English is not the language spoken at home, are invited to register for kindergarten at the Newcomer Support Centre - located at 575 George Street (please use the Regent Street entrance).
For all-newcomer registrations, please bring the following documentation with you:
- Birth Certificate
- Legal status in Canada (i.e. Canadian Citizenship, Confirmation of Permanent Residency, Work Permit, Study Permit) - both the parents' and the child's
- Immunization records (translated into English)
- Proof of permanent address in Canada (e.g., a lease, driver's license, or utility bill)
A good start to school is important to a child's future. Register early so you and your child can be as ready as possible for the first day of school. Please preregister online using the link below, AND then print and complete the additional documents prior to going to your child's school.
