ASAP 3 - 2017-2018.docxASAP 3 - 2017-2018.docx

Hello! Today is Monday, January 15th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.
This Wednesday, January 17th is a half day for students and we will follow the regular half-day dismissal routine with students leaving the building between 11:30 and 12:00 that day. I would, once again, like to remind families that the rink is not a great place to “hang out” after dismissal, as it is unsupervised and many, many bullying issues arise there. Also, we encourage students who are waiting to be picked up by their families to wait here at the school until their drives arrive.
Tomorrow our Gr. 7 classes are headed to Fredericton for a tour of the NB Legislature and the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. This trip is in support of the Gr. 7 Social Studies curriculum which studies government and citizenship. We know they will have a great day and be great representatives of RVMS.
We are mid-way through our second term and teachers may be contacting some parents if their children are still struggling to meet grade level outcomes. These students will bring home a mid-term progress report to update their families about any concerns since the last report card. Please feel free to contact your child’s teaching team if you receive one of these reports and have any questions or concerns.
As well, the school office is working on sending home notices to families of students who have 10 or more absences this school year. The absences may be excused or unexcused, but a letter will still be sent to remind families that their child has missed 5%, or more, of their school year. Again, plese contact your child’s teachers if you have any questions about attendance.
Our third ASAP schedule begins today and it is full of activities (we almost couldn’t fit it on one sheet). This session runs until March 2nd. A copy is attached to the e-mail version of this message and is posted on our website as well.
Don’t forget that Mr. Vincent and his hard working team are still in the dough business. Pizza dough or cookie dough is available to order each morning in the Tech Lab for $5 with pickup at the end of the school day.
That is all for this week. As always, these messages are posted on our website and you can contact me at trudy.mcgrath@nbed.nb.ca or at 738-6511 if you have any questions.
Thank you and good evening!
