Simonds Maker Space

Simonds High School in partnership with Brilliant Labs, will be opening a maker space in room A201 on Tuesday, February 9th.

What is a Maker Space? 


A maker space is a room with tools, materials and equipment for student/classes/teachers to: 

  • use their imagination to make something 
  • work on school projects 
  • try something new 
  • test ideas 
  • be innovative 
  • explore a new hobby 
  • be entrepreneurial 
  • work with people who have similar interests 
  • make mom/dad/guardian a nice birthday gift 
  • discover new passions 
  • Learn new skills 
  • expand knowledge and skills 
  • share knowledge and skills 
  • be engaged in learning 

The maker space will be open before school, during lunch and after school, as well as for teachers to sign classes up to use the room.  In the fall we will offer Maker 110 and next winter we will offer Maker 120 as credit courses.  

 

There will be a Covid -19 limit of 12 Students working in the room at a time.  Physical distancing must be observed.  Hope to see you there Seabees!
