Newsletter April 16 – April 20, 2018

Mission Statement: The mission of St. Malachy’s Memorial High School is to create an environment in which students excel academically and to provide a safe and supportive community which encourages growth and contribution to the larger community.

Vision Statement: St. Malachy’s Memorial High School is committed to educating the whole person.  Through a rigorous and comprehensive program of studies we prepare students academically, socially and morally to assume their places as conscientious, involved and contributing members of society.

STM Reads 2018: Secret Path kicked off on Tuesday with our Action Day.  I would like to thank our First Nations guests, student Connor McFarlane, and teachers for bringing awareness to this important part of Canadian history.

The Girls Rugby team kicked off their season competing in the Ruggers Challenge over the weekend.  It was a successful start with the girls showing great spirit and how competitive they will be.

The Concours d'Art Oratoire will take place at the District Office on Tuesday April 17th starting at 6:30 pm. St. Malachy's will have a group of students from each grade representing the school in this year’s competition.  Good luck to all participants.

On Monday, students in grade nine and ten will attend the play Redfish: A Comedy about Depression, presented by the Saint John Theatre Company.  Students will be called to the auditorium at the beginning of 4th period. This event is being facilitated by the guidance department.

A friendly reminder that St. Malachy’s is a Scent Free building.  Sometimes we forget that we have fellow classmates and staff who are very sensitive to scents and the product ingredients.  Please do your part to ensure our school environment is safe for all.  Thank you.
