Newsletter January 14 – January 18, 2019

 

Mission Statement: The mission of St. Malachy’s Memorial High School is to create an environment in which students excel academically and to provide a safe and supportive community which encourages growth and contribution to the larger community.

Vision Statement: St. Malachy’s Memorial High School is committed to educating the whole person.  Through a rigorous and comprehensive program of studies we prepare students academically, socially and morally to assume their places as conscientious, involved and contributing members of society.

 

I would like to give a shout out to St. Malachy’s Cyber Titan team.  St. Malachy’s has moved up to the Platinum tier of the international competition!  We are currently in 3rd place in New Brunswick, and top 20% of 4000+ teams worldwide. On Friday, the STM Cyber Titan team competed in the latest round.  Our STM Cyber Titan team members are: Tim Hutton, Ibra Mamboumina, Brayden Marsden, Jacob Morrell, Matthew Peterson and Stephen White.

 

Exams start next week, January 21st - 25th.  The exam schedule was distributed to all students and can also be found on the school website.  Students should be finishing up any missing work to make sure everything is up to date before Friday.

Monday, January 14 – Regular schedule   ** 8:00am CLT Meeting – Learning Commons

Tuesday, January 15 – Regular schedule - ** 3:30 pm Open House follow up planning committee meeting.

Wednesday, January 16Regular Schedule - ** Red/White Day!! – Filming for the Open House video will be happening in the morning, and we want to show our School Spirit, so we will be looking for as much red/white as possible.  **ESST Meeting 9:15 a.m. - Guidance Center. ** Armed Forces Recruiters - will be set up in the main hall over lunch.

Thursday, January 17Regular Schedule.  There will not be Study Hall/ Saints in Action this week.

Guidance Update:

SEED Applications are now open! Summer Employment for Grade 12 students.

The Student Employment Experience Development (SEED) program provides funding to create summer job opportunities for post-secondary students. The program provides selected students with a summer job of up to fourteen weeks in duration with a New Brunswick employer. Applicants must register online to receive a voucher to eligible to apply for funded positions.

Grade 12 students attending a post-secondary institution in the fall are eligible to apply.

Grad Class – “Class of 2019”:

Grad class clothing items are still available for purchase.  Please see Mr. Gaudet in room 121 for what is remaining.

February 5th – Open House: St. Malachy’s – an opportunity for all Anglophone South Grade 8 students and their parents/guardians to visit St. Malachy’s – start time 6:30p.m.
