Thanks to SRC President Greg Robinson and to members of the SRC Executive and to Faculty Advisors Ms. Katherine Branscombe and Mrs. Rebecca Thompson for an exciting “Welcome Back” assembly.  You could feel the school spirit!
 
Thanks to all parents who attended our Meet the Teacher / PSSC Information evening on Tuesday, September 12.  It was wonderful to see many familiar faces and also wonderful to meet many parents and guardians of the latest members of the STM family – the grade 9 students, members of the Class of 2021.
 
I would like to emphasize with students and parents again that regular attendance and being on time for class is very important and is very much connected with student success. 
 
This week’s schedule:
 
Monday, September 18thRegular Schedule.  CLT Meeting, 8:00AM in the Learning Commons.  Golf Meeting, 12:30PM, Learning Commons - Any student interested in trying out for this year’s STM Golf Team please meet in the Learning Commons.  This is a must attend session.
 
Tuesday, September 19thRegular Schedule. STM Reads Committee meeting, 3:40PM, Learning Commons.
 
Wednesday, September 20th Half Day for Students.  Professional Learning for teachers in the afternoon. Schedule as follows: All 5 Classes will happen in the morning (P1, P2, P3, P4, P5).  Dismissal will be our regular lunch dismissal time of 12:25PM.  Buses are scheduled to arrive at the school starting at 12:30PM for their afternoon run. ESST meeting, 9:15AM, Guidance Center.
 
Thursday, September 21st Regular Schedule.  Study Hall / Saints in Action Schedule will begin next week. Grad Class 2018 Meeting, 10:50AM, Auditorium. Boys Hockey Meeting, 12:30PM, Auditorium - Any student looking to try out for the boys hockey team needs to attend this meeting.
 
Friday, September 22nd  Regular Schedule. STM Football Homecoming game, 7:00PM, Shamrock Park.
 
 
 
Upcoming events:
 
The Class of 2018 is having its first Grad Event "Embrace your Childhood Party" on Thursday, September 28th from 6:00 - 8:30PM. All interested grads need to sign up with Mr. Gaudet.
 
Our first Parent School Support Committee (PSSC) meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 26th starting at 5:30PM in the Learning Commons.
 
Terry Fox Run – “Run for Ray” will be held on Friday, September 29th (Rain or Shine).  Participating students will be bused to Rockwood Park to walk/run a closed course.  Students received participation information during Friday’s “Welcome Back” assembly.  Pledge forms are to be returned to their advisory teacher.
 
The Guidance Department is now accepting Scholarship Resumes from Grade 12 students.  These resumes should outline the student’s volunteer and extra-curricular activities.  Grade 12 students have had a presentation on scholarship resumes and applying to post-secondary. 
 
Academic Awards Ceremony has been scheduled for October 19th.
